The OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra Goldfinger
A car, a poster, a pocket book and an original book by Ian Fleming: what is still missing to the perfect auction that celebrates this year the 50th Anniversary of 007 Goldfinger?Just an Omega. And, if we consider which is the name of the movie I have seen at least three times in a row in my life, it is about a yellow gold Omega.
An exclusive on line auction, organized by Christie's and celebrating the 50th anniversary of Goldfinger has ended yesterday and Omega has today released further info about the price paid for a one-of-a-kind Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Goldfinger created exclusively for this event: 106.000 CHF, nearly eight times the estimated price, is its hammer price, with this Omega being the item to get the best result out of five.
Case and dial are made out of 18K yellow gold, hands and indexes are covered with Super-LumiNova, with the central second hand featuring its counterweight the shape of the 007 gun-like logo (as it is with the Omega Planet Casino Royale). It is powered by in-house caliber 8501 updated with the latest technologies to make it fully anti-magnetic (>15000 Gauss), featuring a matching 18K yellow gold rotor visible through the sapphire crystal.
Omega has carefully designed even the watch box which draws inspiration from the U.S. Bullion Depository building at Fort Knox. Proceedings from this auction will be given to the UK organization NSPCC.
