The Saxon manufacturer revealed the Nomos Tangente Oro Rosa neomatik 175 Years Watchmaking Glashütte during the Nomos Forum, the annual event gathering their retailers and media press in Glashütte.
Back then, the brand’s executives took the curtain off a new limited edition rose gold Tangente representing the flagship model 2023.
The tribute to the Nomos Tangente
The Tangente is the backbone of Nomos Glashütte and epitomizes its philosophy and Bauhaus-driven design, now extended to the much-appreciated Club up to Zürich. Yet this collection stands as a reference and has preserved its DNA.
It makes sense that Nomos chose Tangente to craft a rose gold edition model and celebrate 175 years of watchmaking at Glashütte; with this precious model, Nomos adds a new, and perhaps the ultimate, chapter to such a historical celebration.
The last time we took pictures of a Tangente dates back to 2019; the new Tangente rose gold neomatik 175 Years Watchmaking Glashütte probably ends the “175 years” celebration cycle, placing the Tangente under the spotlight again.
The design
Don’t look any further when analyzing this new Tangente; it’s always about “evolution” rather than revolution, and the rose-gold Tangente is all but revolutionary. Nonetheless, it marks a big step forward in luxury and refinement.
The timepiece adopts the original two-tone dial, featuring a white silver-treated central part surrounded by an outer rose gold ring and matching rose gold small seconds counter.
The outcome is exquisite; the rose gold case turns the Tangente into the most refined Nomos watch ever, getting the most out of rose gold’s warm tones paired with a Horween brown leather strap and rose gold pin buckle.
Despite having crafted several gold watches so far, e.g. the Lambda, the Nomos Tangente Oro Rosa neomatik 175 Years Watchmaking Glashütte stands, in our opinion, as the hottest gold watch ever made by Nomos Glashütte.
Paying homage to classic watchmaking, the watch comes in an ultra-classic 35 mm large and 6.9 mm thick case. You won’t go wrong with such a watch during a gala dinner, but the colour combination looks perfect if you’re wearing a tuxedo jacket while sipping a glass of bourbon whisky.
Here is why they opted for a brown leather strap instead of a full black leather one; head to the Ludwig 175 Years Watchmaking Glashütte edition if you’re searching for the purest back-tie evening watch.
The DUW 3001 caliber
The watch does not come equipped with the Alpha calibre but goes all in with the smallest neomatik calibre on offer, as highlighted by the “neomatik” wording on the dial.
Although a hand-wound calibre would fit in, a neomatik self-winding movement is a top-notch choice and will please a larger audience looking for practicality, hence self-winding.
Also, the movement’s size, measuring 28.8 across and just 3.2 mm in thickness, ensures slimness.
Here is a classic ultra-flat watch mimicking a manual winding one, equipped with the most advanced proprietary movement in the industry in this price and product category, whose sole improvement area is the 43-hour power reserve.
Final thoughts
We had no doubts about Nomos Glashütte producing a small batch of products when creating such an exclusive model, which tops the “solo tempo” offering.
There are 175 pieces available of the Nomos Tangente Oro Rosa neomatik 175 Years Watchmaking Glashütte, and that’s more than enough to equally please watch connoisseurs and make it a collector’s piece.
The 8,600 Euro price list is excellent from any perspective; the Tangente Oro Rosa neomatik 175 Years Watchmaking Glashütte is exquisite, exudes elegance and is the most compelling three-hand gold watch ever made by Nomos. We also applaud the brand for equipping the watch with its top-tier self-winding neomatik calibre.
Our comment regards the watch size; we’d add a second size option, including a rose gold Nomos Glashütte measuring 39mm in diameter, for example, thus widening the audience to a greater extent. 35 mm is as true-to-tradition as it gets but won’t be everybody’s cup of tea.
