Longines DolceVita

The new Longines DolceVita collection

/

The "La Dolce Vita" is reminiscent of a period where Rome was the ultimate destination to international jet-setters and cinema's movie stars alike. The legacy of that age is still living to the present day and is synonymous with the Italian lifestyle, a hallmark across Italy and out. If we talk about the DolceVita, with no space left in between the two words instead, we're referring to a renowned collection by Longines, that took inspiration from our "Dolce Vita." The Longines DolceVita collection is more than merely a selection of products, it is synonymous with a classic watch brand that equally sells watches for him and her, as Mathieu Baumgartner, VicePresident Marketing Longines, has confirmed during a one-to-one interview.

The Longines DolceVita was under the international spotlight last Wednesday: the brand gathered international press representatives, bloggers, and influencers in the eternal city to unveil the new collection. The 2019  Longines DolceVita reaffirms the bond with the "Dolce Vita" lifestyle, that was recreated during the event; we were, in fact, welcomed in the beautiful setting of historic Villa Aurelia by a group of young couples riding across the Villa aboard their vintage Vespa motorcycles, as our parents used to do back in the days.

Before talking about the new products, introduced to the attending audience by Mathieu Baumgartner himself alongside President Walter Von Känel, the event had quite a special guest, and no other than award-winning Indian actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, an international star who celebrated twenty years of partnership with Longines.

An achievement that Walter von Känel celebrated by gifting her with a special Limited Edition Longines DolceVita (the first out of just five pieces), to celebrate one of the most enduring collaborations between a watch brand and an ambassador, in the industry.

The modern Longines DolceVita collection, initially launched in 1997, debuts two new white dials, whose elongated applied indexes enhance the rectangular case shape, whose long-to-short side ratio exceeds a 1.5 factor further; also, the brand revealed a new blue dial featuring a starry sky.

Moreover, the designers came with a never-seen-before new combination of colors that few would have ever expected on such a collection, yet they are entirely in line with a Longines' classic foothold. These unique straps give the DolceVita timepieces a total look luxury accessory feel, and can be easily replaced and interchanged so that every wearer can customize the Longines DolceVita to her taste.

The Longines marketing team didn't forget about men, since they added an extra-large variant just for men, showcasing a 47mm high and 28.20mm large case, powered by an automatic movement in replacement of the quartz one that currently powers the two smaller versions, whose sizes are 32mm and 37mm respectively. Congratulations to Longines on hosting us in such a sacred and hard-to-access place in Rome, and having organized an international event whose elegance and refinement are second to none.
