IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Big Date Spitfire Edition “Mission Accomplished”
Do you remember the "Silver Spitfire - The Longest Flight" project? Introduced at SIHH 2019, that project supported professional aviators Steve Boultbee Brooks and Matt Jones in their circumnavigation of the globe on board a fully overhauled Spitfire. The Longest Flight endeavor has marked the new 2019 IWC campaign to promote the renovated Spitfire collection. That collection introduced new products, new in-house designed calibers, and the Big Pilot's Watch Perpetual Calendar Spitfire Bronze, the first-ever Big Pilot's Watch crafted in bronze.
To celebrate the successful completion of the circumnavigation, IWC has taken the curtain off the new IWC Big Pilot's Watch Big Date Spitfire Edition "Mission Accomplished." It is the bronze take of a specific variant of the Big Pilot's Watch, equipped with a manual winding movement and a big date display. The same timepiece originally appeared in 2018, when IWC Schaffhausen celebrated its 150th Anniversary.
Measuring 46,2mm, across, and 15,2mm in thickness, it is powered by IWC caliber 59235, a complicated variant of the base IWC 59210 mechanical movement, capable of guaranteeing up to eight days of maximum power reserve, visible through a small porthole placed on the titanium's case back. The case back is embellished with a Spitfire, and carries a serial number and the wording "Mission Accomplished." IWC will craft just 500 pieces of the new Big Pilot's Watch Big Date Spitfire Edition "Mission Accomplished." each priced at 16,900 Euro.
