There is no community like the Paneristi, or, else said, no one as connected to a watch brand. The largest Panerai Club turned 24, and the brand organized its party in Kuala Lumpur.
During the P-Day, Panerai unveiled a new timepiece named after the Paneristi to mark their 2025 quarter-of-a-century milestone, whose celeb party will occur in New York next year. Named Luminor Venticinque PAM02025, the watch came out as a collab watch developed closely with the community and drew inspiration from a specific reference.
The Luminor Venticinque PAM02025
The Paneristi began operations in 2000 and now has 30,000 members. Their passion and commitment to the brand are as profound as Panerai’s in fostering their unstoppable connection with them. As proof, the brand released several limited edition models bearing the Paneristi moniker; we cannot forget, among the Luminor, the reference PAM 0911, otherwise known as “Last One for Paneristi”, based on a Luminor Marina.
A new Luminor meets the PANERISTI.
More recently, the Radiomir collection hit the headlines with the top-end Paneristi Forever PAM00532 or, in 2020, the Radiomir Venti. This year’s edition brings back the Luminor case under the spotlight while paying tribute to the so-called Fiddy.
The outcome is a timepiece marking an even closer relationship between brand and community than ever, as exemplified by the reference 127’s inspiration, whose right-handed counterpart, the 217, carries the glorious “MARINA MILITARE” wording on the dial.
However, the 127 is easily recognizable thanks to an upside-down bridge lever reissued in the current PAM 02025. Also, the case’s design is a 1950 series downsized to 44 mm in diameter for the first time. In brief, we think the designers sketched a smaller case to broaden the audience of prospective customers.
Unveiled during the P-Day in Kuala Lumpur
Kuala Lumpur, whose Panerai boutique recently released a highly sought-after limited edition Luminor, is a testament to the Asian community’s unwavering passion for the brand. A 44 mm case size is a perfect proposition, too. The watch has a vintage look provided by the “brunito” surface treatment, paired with a blue dial.
It comes with a grained, smoked treatment and a sandwich layout. The designers filled the lower layer with X1-grade Super-LumiNova™ to maximize luminescence. The case is waterproof up to 300 meters, a performance you would expect on any Luminor. On the inverted bridge, you will spot the PANERISTI inscription engraved on the lever to mark the connection with the community.
P6000 calibre and a see-through case back
The watch is powered by a P6000, which is the hand-winding movement found on a Luminor Base capable of three days of power reserve. Had Panerai opted for a 47 mm case, they could have gone for a more refined P3000, but we think the former is a better trade-off in price to limited edition exclusivity.
It may have turned the watch into a PAM372 reissue, but it is not. The 372 will soon reappear as reference PAM 1628. The case back is open, with smoked sapphire glass and a massive anniversary logo celebrating the Paneristi’s “Anniversario.”
Final thoughts
The Panerai Luminor Venticinque PAM02025 costs 8,900 euros and is limited to 1,000 pieces. It will be exclusively offered to community members for a month and available for purchase later. The hottest design cue is the 1950 case and its first-ever 44mm size. The blue dial pimps up the watch and works well with the “brunito” case and the domed glass.
However, I do not prefer the burnished treatment out of a PVD film. I would have gone with a brushed steel case, contrasting polished bezel, and closed case back to further enhance the military and tool-watch pedigree.
That said, the model is a welcome addition. Its silhouette hints at more historical references coming up soon, a strategy that Panerai seems to be now pursuing.
