The Nomos Metro 33 is the new take on the Metro collection by Nomos Glashütte and is the smallest-sized Metro. The last time we wrote about a Metro dates back to 2021 when a Metro Update went under our loupe, hence the most complicated option, equipped with the signature two-window date display. With the new Metro 33, Nomos Glashütte enlarges the collection with a size as unexpected as the three colour palettes: All Silver, Muted Red and Sage.
The design
Each Nomos watch is an unfiltered source of inspiration from the Bauhaus design, as is the Metro. Also, the Metro 33 confirms the brand’s approach of tirelessly experimenting with new dials, thus moving apart from the brand’s original two-tone layout.
The date-sky-and-sand/">Ahoi neomatik 38 Date Sky and Sand exemplify the new trend, and the Nomos Metro 33 follows up with a new colourful generation of palettes. Please compare the three dials with old models to fully understand the transformation.
While Nomos has preserved an ultra-classic approach when crafting the 175 years of Saxon watchmaking collections, the Metro 33 explores bright yet subtle colour tones of the past; the result is attractive but never too flashy.
If you’d ever complain about too classic or toned-down designs or the other way round, you’ll find the new Nomos Metro 33 brilliantly summarizes both trends.
The dial
Let’s move on to each new dial; the Silver option is the ultra-classic par excellence. It turns the Metro into a monochromatic yet not flat watch housing a sunray decoration on a galvanized dial and leaves room for the vibrant Muted Red and Sage product variations.
The abovementioned models offer contemporary interior design traits with warm, contrasting tones. The Metro 33 Muted Red dial combines red and pink (the minute track) with two grey dots in the centre.
You’ll find the Metro 33 Sage to be as powerful. We stopped on the product’s style more than ever before; that’s what designers did when designing the new models, in our opinion. They added a classy yet colourful touch to a long-lasting collection, which expresses all the Saxon“savoir-faire” in a tinier size.
Metro 33 houses with the Alpha caliber.
It couldn’t be any different; Alpha is the perfect match for such a small case. At 33mm across and 7.5mm thick, the Nomos Metro 33 is one of the smallest Nomos Glashütte watches ever made.
Please consider that the price gap between closed and open caseback is not negligible; opt for the first one, and you’ll be allowed to customize it, too. However, the see-through case back lets you admire the beautiful Alpha movement.
Glashütte ribbons and blued screws enhance the supreme technical craftsmanship.
Final thoughts
There are three models and six options, with a closed or transparent back, as said, and a price range between 1,820 and 2,040 Euros. These are, in brief, the options and prices of a Metro 33. We like them, and our ranking is “Muted Red”, “Sage”, and “All Silver”.
We are surprised that Nomos opted for such a small size; during the presentation, which took place during the Nomos Forum, most people wondered when (and if) Nomos is going to release any bigger model; there’s a large audience of enthusiasts ready to get one.
