Baselworld 2015 - The Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch First Omega in Space Sedna Gold
The Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch First Omega in Space Sedna Gold is perhaps one of the coolest timepieces of this year's Baselworld. It draws inspiration from the renowned Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Wally Schirra had wrapped around his wrist during the 1962 Sigma 7 mission, making it therefore the very first Omega Speedmaster to go into space.
Omega has transformed this famous timepiece that features straight lugs, round chrono pushers and a symmetrical 39,7mm wide, 14,37mm thick stainless steel case, into a timepiece with an 18 carat Sedna Gold case, a brown leather strap with tang buckle, chocolate brown counters and bezel (made in ceramic).
The applied indexes are also made in Sedna Gold as are the alpha hands covered with Super-Luminova. It is powered by the Omega manual caliber 1861 with a 45 hours of Power Reserve derived from an original Lemania caliber, that actually equips all the classic Moonwatches. Made in numebered but not limited edition, the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch First Omega in Space Sedna Gold will retail for 14.400€. Elegant, cool and vintage looking, I guess this watch will easily become a true collector's piece.
