G-SHOCK is celebrating the MR-G collection\u2019s 30<\/strong>th<\/sup> anniversary<\/strong>, dating back to 1996, with the MRG-B2100HR-1A, a limited edition of just 800 pieces<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new watch builds on the octagonal-bezel MRG-B2100<\/strong>, but gives it a distinctive new character through platinum leaf and Structural Colour technology, which creates an iridescent play of colour.<\/p>\n\n\n

Its design brings together \u201ckigumi\u201d<\/em>\u2014the traditional Japanese art of joining wood without nails<\/strong>\u2014and the centuries-old craft of applying metal leaf. This meeting of handcraft and advanced manufacturing sets this new reference apart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Platinum leaf meets the MRG-B2100.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

At the heart of the design is a three-dimensional lattice dial inspired by \u201ckigumi\u201d<\/em>. Platinum leaf<\/strong>, processed into a fine metallic powder, is applied within the lattice to create a richly textured surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hiroto Rakusho<\/strong>, a Kyoto-born artist recognised as both a master of traditional Japanese arts and crafts and a Kyoto Master Craftsman, was entrusted with the work.<\/p>\n\n\n

Born in 1962, Rakusho learned the art of metal leaf from his father before founding his own brand in 2002<\/strong> and exploring new applications for the traditional technique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For G-SHOCK, he created an original design inspired by \u201charuka\u201d<\/em>, the Japanese concept of \u201ceternity,\u201d and applied the platinum leaf<\/strong> to each MRG-B2100-series dial himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The leaf\u2019s varied placement creates subtle shifts in brightness and tone<\/strong>, adding depth and ensuring no two examples look exactly alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Structural Colour shifts with the light<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The bezel and bracelet bring a second distinctive element to the design. G-SHOCK has used Structural Colour<\/strong> technology to evoke the changing sheen of metal leaf.<\/p>\n\n\n

An ultrashort<\/strong>\u2013pulse laser<\/strong> works the surfaces at the micrometre scale, producing colours that shift with the viewing angle. The effect isn\u2019t simply a coloured coating laid over the metal; it comes from the surface\u2019s optical structure itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The result sets the dial\u2019s hand-applied finish against an exceptionally precise treatment<\/strong> of the watch\u2019s exterior components.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A 27-piece bezel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The case construction reflects the MR-G line\u2019s meticulous approach. Its bezel comprises 27 individual parts<\/strong>, each polished before precise assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bezel and bracelet are crafted from COBARION and DAT55G<\/strong>, respectively\u2014exceptionally hard alloys chosen for their combination of refined metallic finishes and durability.<\/p>\n\n\n

COBARION is a cobalt-chromium alloy<\/strong> produced exclusively by Japanese specialist Eiwa. DAT55G is a sub-brand of DAT, a registered trademark of Daido Steel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MR-G platform\u2019s main specs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Beyond the treatments, the watch offers everything you expect from an MR-G. It is solar<\/strong>\u2013powered<\/strong>, receives radio time signals through Multiband 6, and pairs with the CASIO app via Bluetooth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Features also include automatic hand-position correction<\/strong>, a Super Illuminator, and day and date displays. The watch features an antireflective<\/strong>\u2013coated sapphire crystal<\/strong> and is water-resistant to 20 bar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Limited to 800 pieces, priced at \u20ac7,500<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The G-SHOCK MRG-B2100HR-1A goes on sale in November 2026<\/strong> through the G-SHOCK website, the G-SHOCK Store Milano, and select retailers. Just 800 pieces will be made, with a suggested retail price of \u20ac7,500.<\/p>\n\n\n
