For the first time in the collection\u2019s history, Zenith\u2019s Chronomaster has abandoned the chronograph<\/strong> complication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new Chronomaster Solo Sport brings El Primero<\/strong>\u2018s high-frequency technology to a three-hand Chronomaster, removing the chrono registers and pushers to create a symmetrical case available in four executions.<\/p>\n\n\n

Launched at Geneva Watch Days 2026, Zenith\u2019s new Chronomaster Solo Sport<\/strong> combines a 40.0mm stainless-steel case, 13.1mm in height, with a unidirectional ceramic bezel\u2014without an outer steel ring\u2014200 metres of water resistance, and the manufacture\u2019s 5Hz El Primero 3620 calibre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is a compelling move, removing what, in today\u2019s collective imagination at least, may be the Chronomaster\u2019s most inseparable feat: the chronograph<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zenith abandons the chronograph, not El Primero\u2019s DNA.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Solo Sport starts with El Primero, Zenith\u2019s integrated high-frequency automatic chronograph calibre<\/strong>, first introduced in 1969. Its defining technical signature has always been\u2014and still is\u2014its 5Hz operating frequency, or 36,000 vibrations per hour.<\/p>\n\n\n

That original beat rate survives in the Solo Sport; the chronograph function does not. Zenith has adapted the El Primero 3600 into the El Primero 3620<\/strong>, turning to a considerably cleaner, more elemental display.<\/p>\n\n\n

In doing so, Zenith also expands the Chronomaster<\/strong> collection\u2019s offering. Until now, the name has been synonymous with chronographs; Solo Sport introduces a notably refined three-hand model to the family for the first time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

40mm in steel, and 200 metres of water resistance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Chronomaster Solo Sport is housed in a 40mm steel case<\/strong>, as said\u2014a size that places it firmly in the sweet spot for a versatile contemporary sports watch. A screw-down crown<\/strong> and unidirectional ceramic rotating bezel complete the watch.<\/p>\n\n\n

Its 20 ATM<\/strong> rating leaves little doubt about how serious its sporting credentials are. Zenith has given the watch specifications for genuinely all-around use: equally at home as a steel-bracelet sports watch or in the water, a versatility that sets it apart from much of the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bezel clearly departs from the conventional Chronomaster<\/strong> formula. In place of a tachymeter scale, the Solo Sport has a unidirectional rotating bezel, placing it squarely among contemporary sports watches with authentic diver-oriented capability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This deliberate two-face identity<\/strong> is paramount to the value proposition. Zenith positions it as neither a dedicated sports watch nor a dressier alternative, but as an all-purpose timepiece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A ceramic dial that screams high frequency from any angle<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Although the movement is the project\u2019s main topic, the dial announces its high-frequency<\/strong> theme at first glance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zenith created a ceramic dial for the Chronomaster Solo Sport, with a repeating Z pattern<\/strong> set at 45 degrees and finished with a sunray effect. In the brand\u2019s words, the pattern translates a technical specification into a distinctive visual code.<\/p>\n\n\n

The surface treatment varies between versions. The white dial is sunray-brushed, whereas the black and brown versions have a glossy finish<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even the seconds hand\u2019s counterweight carries this visual language<\/strong> through. The so-called shark-tooth minute track frames the dial, a sharply segmented scale inspired by historical references.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The El Primero 3620 SC is not breaking news.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

El Primero 3620 SC is no headline news: the same base movement already powers the Defy Skyline<\/strong> (without a 1\/10 of a second display). Its modern technical architecture includes a silicon escapement, a hacking-seconds function and bidirectional automatic winding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An openworked rotor charges up to a 60-hour power reserve<\/strong> and offers a clear view of the movement through the exhibition caseback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Four references, including a no-date option<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Chronomaster Solo Sport range comprises four references<\/strong>. Three feature a date display at 3 o\u2019clock and share identical core specifications: a 40mm steel case, El Primero 3620 SC calibre, 60-hour power reserve, ceramic bezel and steel bracelet. They are offered with white, black or brown dials.<\/p>\n\n\n

The fourth keeps the black dial<\/strong> with no-date display. It is the line\u2019s most attractive execution, and its official price is significantly lower: \u20ac9,500<\/strong>, versus \u20ac10,500.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ZENCLASP\u2122 is genuinely ingenious<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The three-link steel bracelet is paired with ZENCLASP<\/strong>\u2122, Zenith\u2019s newly developed clasp, unveiled at Watches and Wonders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its integrated, tool-free micro-adjustment mechanism lets you adjust the bracelet length in 2.5mm steps<\/strong> across a 10mm range.<\/p>\n\n\n

What looks like a simple solution conceals substantial development. Zenith cites three years of research and around 1,800 hours<\/strong> of engineering and optimisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Made up of 41 parts<\/strong>, the clasp has been tested to cover more than ten years\u2019 use, logging over 600,000 opening-and-closing cycles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For anyone who wears a metal bracelet daily, it is, in my view, among the new model\u2019s most significant<\/strong> features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How much does the Zenith Chronomaster Solo Sport cost?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Zenith lists the three date-equipped references at \u20ac10,500 and the black no-date version at \u20ac9,500<\/strong>. The Chronomaster Solo Sport has been available since 2 September 2026 through Zenith boutiques, the Maison\u2019s online store and authorised retailers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It enters the fiercely competitive<\/strong> three-hand sports-watch market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its most fitting rivals are not necessarily the category\u2019s established three-hand sports watches<\/strong>. I see other high-frequency models as direct competitors: Zenith\u2019s own Defy, which houses the same movement, and the latest Grand Seiko Evolution 9 models, for instance, whose self-winding calibres operate at the same frequency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let the complication alone, the Chronomaster Solo Sport packs those credentials into a time-only sports watch<\/strong> with 200 metres of water resistance, an excellent 5Hz calibre, and finishing that matches the standard of Zenith\u2019s most recent releases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
