Today, we will attend Dune Part Two\u2019s preview. Director Denis Villeneuve\u2019s second chapter, whose mood reminds us of Star Wars, sees Hamilton Watch as a partner. The Swiss-made, American-founded brand appeared in over 500 films, the latest being Oppenheimer<\/strong><\/a> and Indiana Jones.<\/p>\n

The Hamilton x Dune Part Two Prop Watch<\/h2>\n

Props are functional pieces that participate in the storytelling, especially when a movie belongs to the \u201cscience fiction\u201d<\/em> category. For Dune Part Two, Hamilton designed and manufactured a rectangular-shaped Prop Watch on the characters\u2019 wrists. We\u2019ll find out what they can do and how they work once in theatres this evening.<\/p>\n

However, it\u2019s interesting to point out how the prop watch came out: this odd-looking one-of-a-kind piece is the outcome of a joint design between Hamilton and Doug Harlocker<\/strong>, Prop master of the film\u2019s production.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll be disappointed if you expect such a timepiece to hit the store anytime soon. There isn\u2019t any commercial piece in sight; however, Hamilton celebrated the premiere with two limited series models<\/strong> conceived to grab Dune Part Two\u2019s saga fans.<\/p>\n

The Hamilton Ventura watches x Dune Part Two<\/h2>\n

The chosen platform is the Ventura<\/strong>, the less ordinary timepiece in the collection in shape and features, so that\u2019s the perfect match to try to replicate the Prop Watch\u2019s philosophy. They\u2019re both in full black and come as limited edition models.<\/p>\n

Hamilton Ventura XXL Bright Dune Limited Edition<\/h3>\n

First is a quartz Ventura<\/strong> with the Dune Part Two livery. It measures 52,0 by 46,6 mm and is 11,8 mm thick, packed in a PVD-treated steel case.<\/p>\n

\"Hamilton<\/p>\n

The black dial hides Dune\u2019s livery that mimics the pattern found on the Prop Watch, which turns the same blue as Fremen\u2019s blue eyes<\/strong>, to the push of a button. Its case houses a rubber strap with a pin buckle and is waterproof up to 50 metres. The watch is limited to 3.000 pieces.<\/p>\n

\"Hamilton<\/p>\n

The Hamilton Ventura Edge Dune Limited Edition<\/h3>\n

Here is the second model on offer that celebrates the Prop Watch as faithfully as possible<\/strong> and comes with a unique Ventura design.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll spot a much more angular and larger case whose specs are 51,0 x 47,2 mm and a 13,8 mm thickness.<\/p>\n

This edition sports a PVD-treated steel case, but the look and feel differ<\/strong>. Here is a new Ventura design exclusive to this timepiece.<\/p>\n

While looking at the dial, you\u2019ll notice how the pattern mimics the Prop Watch\u2019s<\/strong> by adopting the same circle-and-line motif.<\/p>\n

This time, the watch adopts a<\/strong> full digital display<\/strong> with hours, minutes and seconds popping in Fremen\u2019s blue on demand.<\/p>\n

Push the crown, and you\u2019ll light everything up, including the blue-glowing logo. You can selectively activate the hours and minutes or the running seconds. The case is waterproof up to 100 meters, and the series is limited to 2.000 pieces.<\/p>\n

Price list and final thoughts<\/h2>\n

The Hamilton Ventura XXL Bright Dune Limited Edition sells for 1,845 Euros, and the Hamilton Ventura Edge Dune Limited Edition for 2,595 Euros. Both come standard within a special box<\/strong> (pictured below).<\/p>\n

We\u2019ll opt for the second one<\/strong>, hands down. Its Prop-Watch-like design turns into a sci-fi accessory and a \u201chalo product\u201d whose price point identifies an exclusive design (i.e. one of a kind that Hamilton won\u2019t produce anymore) which extends beyond the watchmaking category to become a collector\u2019s piece to Dune\u2019s devotees.<\/p>\n
