{"id":26701,"date":"2021-03-18T07:20:22","date_gmt":"2021-03-18T07:20:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/the-mct-sequential-two-s200-previewed-at-baselworld-2014\/"},"modified":"2023-11-02T06:55:03","modified_gmt":"2023-11-02T05:55:03","slug":"pre-basel-2014-mct-sequential-two-s200","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/en\/pre-basel-2014-mct-sequential-two-s200\/","title":{"rendered":"The MCT Sequential Two S200 previewed at Baselworld 2014"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The common denominator that all independent high-end watchmakers share, is, in my opinion, a talent in playing with geometry and mathematics, and in breaking every rule about traditional hour visualization. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">These watchmakers represent indeed the present (and the future) of Swiss watchmaking. <strong>MCT<\/strong>, an acronym for <strong>Manufacture Contemporaine du Temps, <\/strong>has played from its very beginning with the number 3 and with digital hour visualization.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-47465\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/MCT-Sequential-Two-S200-5.jpeg\" alt=\"MCT Sequential Two S200 5\" width=\"900\" height=\"637\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/MCT-Sequential-Two-S200-5.jpeg 1200w, https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/MCT-Sequential-Two-S200-5-300x213.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/MCT-Sequential-Two-S200-5-1024x725.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/MCT-Sequential-Two-S200-5-768x544.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/MCT-Sequential-Two-S200-5-480x340.jpeg 480w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Four small machines are placed at 3, 6, 9, and 12 o\u2019clock, and they are made with 5 triangular prisms that support <strong>3<\/strong> numbers each. The central minute hand activates the hour change. The first <strong>30<\/strong> minutes on the clock activate the mechanism for the following hour, and the second <strong>30<\/strong> minutes allow the next hour to be visualized through a C-shape that rotates counter clockwise; watch this video:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This timepiece therefore supports a 12-hour visualization. I do admit that I haven\u2019t quite understood how day and night are split, but since I am curious, I can\u2019t wait to discover it at Baselworld. For the first time, this complication is being enclosed in a round case made of pink or white gold in the <strong>MCT Sequential Two S200<\/strong>, a new timepiece which upholds the distinctive elements of the <strong>MCT<\/strong> timepieces: the shape of the lugs and the sapphire crystal inlay on the case in order to enjoy the beauty of its mechanics. Mechanics in this timepiece are the absolute protagonists.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It is not by coincidence that the <strong>MCT Sequential Two S200 <\/strong>is the result of consistent improvements in gearing\u2019s efficiency through an updated teeth profile design, as there are many gearings and they are more important in this timepiece than in any other mechanical timepiece: their precision and efficiency are crucial. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">There are 507 parts needed to assemble the first automatic in-house caliber which winds thanks to a gold micro-rotor which in turn creates little inertia and no winding noise on the wrist.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-47468\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/MCT-Sequential-Two-S200-6.jpeg\" alt=\"MCT Sequential Two S200 6\" width=\"900\" height=\"637\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/MCT-Sequential-Two-S200-6.jpeg 1200w, https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/MCT-Sequential-Two-S200-6-300x213.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/MCT-Sequential-Two-S200-6-1024x725.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/MCT-Sequential-Two-S200-6-768x544.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/MCT-Sequential-Two-S200-6-480x340.jpeg 480w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A seemingly foolish question would be: is this timepiece \u201cSwiss made\u201d?
