After taking the curtain off the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/en\/panerai-radiomir-eilean-watch-hands-on\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Radiomir Venti<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, designed in partnership with the \u201cPaneristi\u201d, the biggest fan-community so far, the brand\u2019s new offering shares the same technical layout with its <strong>PAM 2020<\/strong> sibling while approaching different storytelling: there you have it, the <strong>Radiomir Eilean PAM 1243<\/strong>. Again, it confirms the brand\u2019s vision to foster foothold and traditional watchmaking and attract the die-hard fan community with a <strong>Panerai<\/strong> watch in its purest form.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"panerai-radiomir-eilean-pam-1243\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/panerai-radiomir-eilean-pam-1243-ohwzJBU.1d0b4806cd29.jpeg\" alt=\"panerai-radiomir-eilean-pam-1243\">With the <strong>47-mm-spec product references<\/strong> being gradually discontinued, with no replacement (it seems), as they approach the end of their life cycle, the new <strong>45 mm<\/strong> model confirms everything we have ever appreciated when it comes to a timepiece whose cushion case and wire lugs pay tribute to the early days of such a distinctive brand. Additionally, as soon as you pronounce the term <em>\u201cEilean\u201d<\/em>, you\u2019ll find yourself immersed in a universe that is synonymous with <em>\u201cclassic yachting\u201d<\/em> and, case in point, the foundations of <strong>Panerai<\/strong> as a Florentine watchmaker.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Officially revealed while cruising onboard <strong>Eilean<\/strong>, the <strong>PAM 1243<\/strong> is an unusual take on the <strong>Radiomir<\/strong> theme combining various touchpoints in one go; the case comes with a <em>\u201cvintage patina\u201d<\/em> matte finish initially introduced on the <strong>Radiomir 8 Days PAM 992<\/strong>, then applied to the <strong>PAM 2020<\/strong>, too. The achieved matte finish, which I agree might not be anyone\u2019s cup of tea, helps further reduce this <strong>PAM<\/strong>\u2018s stance on your wrist, much more than you can tell by shaving off two millimetres out of the biggest and polished 47-mil case. Please prove me wrong, but I can confirm it feels, by the looks of the thing, more like a <strong>42mm large Radiomir<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"eilean-1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/eilean-1.68c73638734a.jpeg\" alt=\"eilean-1\">The designers added cues and decorations geared towards reinforcing the connection between yacht and brand \u2013 the case design, for instance \u2013 rather than the Italian pedigree via the hand-made strap. On the case side, you\u2019ll find engraved the name and logo <em>\u201cEilean\u201d<\/em> alongside the shape of a dragon as reproduced on the <strong>Eilean<\/strong>\u2018s hull, whereas the solid case back is decorated with the inscriptions <em>\u201cEilean\u201d<\/em> and <em>\u201c1936\u201d<\/em>, top to bottom.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"panerai-radiomir-eilean-pam-1243-4\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/panerai-radiomir-eilean-pam-1243-4.038493c07cf8.jpeg\" alt=\"panerai-radiomir-eilean-pam-1243-4\">However, the talking point is the innovative <em>\u201cteak\u201d<\/em> pattern that beautifully complements a <strong>Radiomir<\/strong>\u2018s no-date layout and its clean, uncluttered yet bold design. I think I have gone through all the special or limited series <strong>Radiomir<\/strong> marketed over the years, and I admit a <strong>47-mm Radiomir<\/strong>\u00a0still is my favourite choice, but if I were asked to choose a smaller <strong>Radiomir<\/strong>, I\u2019d pick the <strong>Radiomir Eilean<\/strong>, no doubt. It uniquely blends history, connecting with its heritage while adding Florentine craftsmanship (engravings and leather strap).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"panerai-radiomir-eilean-pam-1243-5\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/panerai-radiomir-eilean-pam-1243-5.a0b3b2398b7c.jpeg\" alt=\"panerai-radiomir-eilean-pam-1243-5\">The package offers a leather strap whose stitching mimics <strong>Eilean<\/strong>\u2018s sails. Despite being much softer than an <em>\u201cAssolutamente \u2018<\/em> strap, this one is hardly growing on me; I prefer standard leather straps and stitching, while this one adds a vaguely \u201ccountry\u201d touch clashing with case and dial\u2019s designs. Case in point, the dial is the talking point, and photos do not do justice. The teak finish offers ever-changing tones, from almost black to dark bronze, depending on the light. From a technical perspective, the <strong>Radiomir Eilean PAM 1243<\/strong> houses the sturdy hand-wound <strong>P6000 calibre<\/strong> offering a <strong>three-day power reserve<\/strong> but less appeal and finish compared to my all-time favourite, the <strong>calibre P3000<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"panerai-radiomir-eilean-pam-1243-2\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/panerai-radiomir-eilean-pam-1243-2.b6a0db737121.jpeg\" alt=\"panerai-radiomir-eilean-pam-1243-2\"><strong>Panerai<\/strong> will sell <strong>449 Radiomir Eilean PAM 1243<\/strong> this year; however, it is not limited in time, and additional <strong>449 pieces<\/strong> are expected in <strong>2022<\/strong>. Therefore, the <strong>Panerai Radiomir Eilean PAM 1243<\/strong> is a numbered-per-year model; 449 is <strong>Eilean<\/strong>\u2018s sailing number. To sum things up, here is the ultimate <strong>45-mm Radiomir<\/strong>; the <strong>Eilean<\/strong> flavour and design add a wow factor that I hope <strong>Panerai<\/strong> will preserve since they make the brand so unique.
