His <strong>Carrera<\/strong> chronographs (along with Monacos and more) were standard equipment to racing drivers, movie stars, race engineers, and race team principals (e.g., Mauro Forghieri). <strong>Jo Siffert<\/strong> and <strong>Steve McQueen<\/strong> were the top promoters of a team of ambassadors who made a <strong>Carrera<\/strong> or a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/en\/tag-heuer-monaco-grand-prix-de-monaco-historique-limited-edition\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff\"><strong>Monaco<\/strong><\/span><\/a> watch the most desired chronograph outside the racing course and made <strong>Heuer<\/strong> the quintessential racing chronograph's manufacturer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"porsche-911-carrera-2021\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/porsche-911-carrera-2021.07155c99ce5d.jpg\" style=\"width:100%\" title=\"porsche-911-carrera-2021\">The <strong>TAG Heuer Carrera<\/strong> took its inspiration from the <strong>Carrera Panamericana<\/strong>, as <strong>Porsche<\/strong> did with the iconic <strong>911<\/strong>. The relationship between these two brands has always been a close one and never stopped, even during <strong>Porsche and TAG Heuer<\/strong>'s most challenging days. Those who were teenagers during the seventies and the early eighties, like the undersigned, can't forget, for example, when a <strong>TAG<\/strong>\u2013<strong>developed F1 Porsche<\/strong> engine powered <strong>Alain Prost<\/strong>'s <strong>McLaren<\/strong>. The story goes that <strong>TAG<\/strong> acquired <strong>Heuer<\/strong> before <strong>TAG Heuer <\/strong>finally joined the <strong>LVMH<\/strong>'s watchmaking portfolio.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"tag-heuer-monaco-porsche-club-of-america\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/tag-heuer-monaco-porsche-club-of-america.6c955d05059f.jpg\" style=\"width:100%\" title=\"tag-heuer-monaco-porsche-club-of-america\"><strong>TAG Heuer<\/strong> recently signed a first official partnership within the <strong>Formula E<\/strong> championship. However, such a relationship was still on-going in <strong>2010<\/strong> when the <strong>Porsche Club of America<\/strong> (PCA) partnered with the <em>\"Swiss avant-garde since 1860\"<\/em> brand to produce a <strong>55-piece limited edition Monaco<\/strong> crafted to please the world's biggest <strong>Porsche Club<\/strong>'s proud members (photo: Antiquorum).<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align:justify\" id=\"the-tag-heuer-carrera-porsche-chronograph-special-edition-44-mm-caliber-heuer-02-is-the-first-outcome-of-a-new-vision\">The TAG Heuer Carrera Porsche Chronograph Special Edition 44 mm Caliber Heuer 02 is the first outcome of a new vision.<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">Like two people having a long-term secret affair, <strong>Porsche<\/strong> and <strong>TAG Heuer<\/strong> have long-awaited before signing an official agreement, whose mission is a list of products rather than a one-off. Kudos to the new and young brand's CEO for signing it off and making <strong>TAG Heuer<\/strong> the luxury sports watchmaker it deserves, thus officially ending a cycle of disputable marketing strategies and profitability-driven timepieces, whose outcome is low brand awareness. I believe the new strategy will soon pay back and quickly strengthen <strong>TAG Heuer<\/strong>'s prestige among the top rated chronographs' manufacturers.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align:justify\" id=\"the-tag-heuer-carrera-porsche-chronograph-special-edition-in-brief\">The TAG Heuer Carrera Porsche Chronograph Special Edition, in brief.<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">As soon as we received the <strong>TAG Heuer<\/strong>'s teasers portraying a <strong>911<\/strong>'s silhouette, our expectations were high. I fully understand why <strong>TAG<\/strong> has not attended the <strong>LVMH Watch Week<\/strong> later in January; such a project deserved a different scenario. However, <strong>Porsche<\/strong>'s and <strong>TAG Heuer<\/strong>'s first outcome isn't as mind-blowing as foreseen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"tag-heuer-carrera-porsche-chronograph-special-edition-calibre-heuer-02-uno\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/tag-heuer-carrera-porsche-chronograph-special-edition-calibre-heuer-02-uno.88828fc9d39e.jpg\" style=\"width:100%\" title=\"tag-heuer-carrera-porsche-chronograph-special-edition-calibre-heuer-02-uno\">Those eager to discover something revolutionary got quite a disappointment; we're in front of a standard, yet well-executed, co-branded <strong>Carrera<\/strong>. The product is excellent, it showcases the good built quality we're familiar with the new <strong>Carrera<\/strong>, but it's nevertheless a product variation on a standard <strong>44mm large Carrera with black ceramic bezel<\/strong>, housing the <strong>Heuer 02 manufacture movement<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"tag-heuer-carrera-porsche-chronograph-special-edition-calibre-heuer-02\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/tag-heuer-carrera-porsche-chronograph-special-edition-calibre-heuer-02.7403e8a0cd2a.jpg\" style=\"width:100%\" title=\"tag-heuer-carrera-porsche-chronograph-special-edition-calibre-heuer-02\">The design teams surgically customized the base formula with the red <strong>Porsche<\/strong> <strong>logo<\/strong> on the bezel, a skeletonized winding mass in the shape of a <strong>three-spoke Porsche steering wheel<\/strong>, and conceived a dial combining a <strong>tarmac-looking finis<\/strong>h with <strong>large applied Arabic numerals<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"tag-heuer-carrera-porsche-chronograph-special-edition-calibre-heuer-02-quattro\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/tag-heuer-carrera-porsche-chronograph-special-edition-calibre-heuer-02-quattro-kBtqxrD.017cf535813f.jpg\" style=\"width:100%\" title=\"tag-heuer-carrera-porsche-chronograph-special-edition-calibre-heuer-02-quattro\">I would not say I like the numerals that much since the font does not match the font on the bezel; conversely, this layout makes the <strong>TAG Heuer Carrera Porsche Chronograph Special Edition 44 mm Caliber Heuer 02<\/strong> intensely glow in the dark. The timepiece comes with the signature <strong>H<\/strong>\u2013<strong>shaped<\/strong> <strong>link bracelet <\/strong>or a <strong>distinctive new leather strap<\/strong> with stitching and folding clasp, which is my favorite option.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align:justify\" id=\"final-thoughts\">Final thoughts<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">The new partnership opens a new chapter and steps the <strong>Carrera<\/strong> up; I'm eager to find out what's next in the product pipeline. Its success will depend much on the kind of timepieces <strong>TAG Heuer<\/strong> will release moving forward. I hope they will be less mainstream. Let's expect other collections to carry the <strong>Porsche<\/strong> insignia: a <strong>Porsche-branded <a href=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/en\/tag-heuer-monaco-full-guide-and-price-list-2020\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff\">Monaco<\/span><\/a><\/strong> on the likes of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/en\/tag-heuer-monaco-gulf-edition-calibre-11-meets-nissan-gt-r\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff\"><strong>Gulf Monaco<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, for instance, is a not-to-be-missed chance if you ask me.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"tag-heuer-porsche-official-presentation-1\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/tag-heuer-porsche-official-presentation-1.77aa38ceaa52.jpg\" style=\"width:100%\" title=\"tag-heuer-porsche-official-presentation-1\">With that said, adding the official <strong>Porsche<\/strong> logo is quite an achievement. To sum things up, I approve <strong>TAG Heuer<\/strong>'s vision, and I am sure that the new <strong>TAG Heuer Carrera Porsche Chronograph Special Edition<\/strong> is just the dawn of a new era.
