{"id":26486,"date":"2020-03-13T09:06:12","date_gmt":"2020-03-13T09:06:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/montblanc-star-legacy-novelties-2020\/"},"modified":"2025-06-06T08:57:05","modified_gmt":"2025-06-06T06:57:05","slug":"montblanc-star-legacy-novelties-2020-watches-and-wonders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/en\/montblanc-star-legacy-novelties-2020-watches-and-wonders\/","title":{"rendered":"Introducing the Montblanc Star Legacy novelties 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We prefer to think that nothing has changed in the watch industry and that we\u2019ll all meet at <strong>Watches and Wonders<\/strong> later next month.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Yet, we\u2019re aware it is not happening, and, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/en\/how-coronavirus-affects-the-watch-industry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>envisioned in a recent post<\/strong><\/a>, we can\u2019t do anything than rely upon, for the time being, the press media digital photos available.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Let\u2019s start off our (virtual) <strong>Watches and Wonders<\/strong>\u2018 preview by introducing a couple of <strong>Montblanc 2020<\/strong> new products, whose embargo ends today, hoping we will soon get our hands on the new <strong>Montblanc Star Legacy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\" id=\"montblanc-introduces-two-new-star-legacy-timepieces\">Montblanc introduces two new Star Legacy timepieces.<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We have very much covered <strong>Montblanc<\/strong> watches over the years, the last in chronological order being the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/en\/montblanc-1858-geosphere-limited-edition-green-khaki-2019-sihh-horbiter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Montblanc 1858 Geosphere Limited Edition 2019<\/strong><\/a>, the <strong>Montblanc 1858 Chronograph Tachymeter Bronze Limited Edition <\/strong>and, first, the <strong>Montblanc 4810 TwinFly Chronograph 110 Years Edition<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, we never covered the <strong>Star Legacy<\/strong> collection, which represents the entry-level range to <strong>Montblanc<\/strong> timepieces.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The product offering goes from time-only wristwatches up to masterpieces like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/en\/montblanc-tourbillon-geospheres-night-sky-limited-edition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Montblanc Tourbillon Geosph\u00e8res Night Sky Limited Edition<\/strong><\/a>, with <strong>Minerva<\/strong>-powered chronographs somewhere in between.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"montblanc-star-legacy-chronograph-day-date-43-mm-1\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/montblanc-star-legacy-chronograph-day-date-43-mm-1.a90c9056d2a8.jpg\" alt=\"montblanc-star-legacy-chronograph-day-date-43-mm-1\">These new models are the <strong>Montblanc Star Legacy Chronograph Day &amp; Date 43mm<\/strong> and the <strong>Montblanc Star Legacy Automatic Date 43mm<\/strong>, respectively.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Let\u2019s start with the time only version; they\u2019re not entirely new, they instead are (interesting) product range extensions, adding two large-sized watches to the current offering.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If the introduction of <strong>43mm<\/strong> cases confirms the brand\u2019s product managers are focusing on watches for him, this year, the newly released ivory and anthracite dials are an intriguing new option.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"montblanc-star-legacy-automatic-date-2020-1\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/montblanc-star-legacy-automatic-date-2020-1.3e71a317c564.jpg\" alt=\"montblanc-star-legacy-automatic-date-2020-1\">They both showcase an ivory dial with a white-silvered external border, Roman numerals, indexes, and hands in 18-carat rose gold finish, or slate dial with Roman numerals, applied indexes, and black rhodium-plated hands.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The great news is that the Roman numerals are filled with <strong>Super<\/strong>\u2013<strong>Luminova<\/strong>\u00ae to guarantee visibility under dim light or in the dark, something that current products cannot achieve.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"montblanc-star-legacy-automatic-date-2020\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/montblanc-star-legacy-automatic-date-2020.3abd29a5e1ed.jpg\" alt=\"montblanc-star-legacy-automatic-date-2020\">The mew <strong>Star Legacy Automatic 43mm<\/strong> is powered by the <strong>MB 24<\/strong>.<strong>17<\/strong> caliber sporting a maximum power reserve of <strong>38 hours<\/strong> (not a benchmark, honestly) and the <strong>MB 25<\/strong>.<strong>07<\/strong> caliber with a maximum of <strong>48 hours power reserve<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They\u2019re both non-in-house. The chronograph variant is also offering day and date display, which is not available on the current range.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Also, they come on either a three-link steel bracelet or an alligator strap, the latter crafted in the brand\u2019s Florentine workshop (where <strong>Montblanc<\/strong> produces all the leather accessories).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"montblanc-star-legacy-chronograph-day-date-43-mm-2\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/montblanc-star-legacy-chronograph-day-date-43-mm-2.721d90f35e2d.jpg\" alt=\"montblanc-star-legacy-chronograph-day-date-43-mm-2\">At first glance, both timepieces are great range-extenders, in my opinion, and offer enhanced usability and better <em>\u201ctouch and feel\u201d<\/em> in comparison to those variants showcasing Arabic numerals.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We look forward to getting our hands on them anytime soon.
