{"id":26420,"date":"2020-03-24T07:12:19","date_gmt":"2020-03-24T07:12:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/welcome-to-the-spitfire-club-by-iwc\/"},"modified":"2021-11-26T15:23:39","modified_gmt":"2021-11-26T15:23:39","slug":"spitfire-club-iwc-watches-milan-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/en\/spitfire-club-iwc-watches-milan-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Welcome to the Spitfire Club by IWC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Do you remember the awesome <strong>IWC<\/strong> booth at <strong>SIHH 2019<\/strong>? <strong>IWC Schaffhausen<\/strong> set up the entire area as an old military hangar aimed at celebrating a new partnership called \u201c<em>Silver Spitfire<\/em> \u2013 <em>The Longest Flight<\/em>.\u201d Those who are familiar with the <strong>IWC<\/strong> collections through the years will realize that title reminds a pretty special limited edition <strong>IWC<\/strong> <strong>Pilot<\/strong>\u2018<strong>s Watch<\/strong> crafted in brown ceramic some years ago (<em>The Last Flight<\/em>); others will recognize aviator and novel writer <strong>Antoine De Saint<\/strong>\u2013<strong>Exup\u00e9ry<\/strong> instead.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"iwc-pilots-watch-double-chronograph-top-gun-ceratanium\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/iwc-pilots-watch-double-chronograph-top-gun-ceratanium.7f1fb6dcd112.jpg\" alt=\"iwc pilots watch double chronograph top gun ceratanium\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Whatever your source of inspiration, <strong>IWC<\/strong> has this year further strengthened and upscaled its<strong> Pilot<\/strong>\u2018<strong>s Watch<\/strong> collection, either the vintage-inspired (<strong>Spitfire<\/strong>) and the modern one, whose technological pinnacle is, no doubt, the <strong>Pilot<\/strong>\u2018<strong>s<\/strong> <strong>Watch Top Gun<\/strong> <strong>crafted in<\/strong> <strong>Ceratanium<\/strong>\u2122. In Geneva, last January, a full scale <strong>Spitfire<\/strong> aircraft was placed in the middle of the booth, by far the most fascinating of the whole fair and the most appealing <strong>IWC<\/strong> has ever designed in recent years. You felt like you were stepping into a <strong>WWII<\/strong> military base camp! Also, that was the same spirit of the <strong>Spitfire Club<\/strong> when it opened its doors to friends of the brand, last Thursday evening, in <strong>Milan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"iwc-spitfire-club-the-longest-flight-1\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/iwc-spitfire-club-the-longest-flight-1.a5e45dbda4f5.JPG\" alt=\"iwc-spitfire-club-the-longest-flight-1\"><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>IWC Italy<\/strong> recreated that scenario at the <strong>Officine del Volo<\/strong>, an old facility located close the Milan airport, where they celebrated the 2019 Spitfire and <strong>Top Gun<\/strong> collections, that reaffirm <strong>IWC<\/strong> watches as the reference brand when it comes to vintage and modern aviator and pilot\u2019s watches. <strong>IWC Schaffhausen<\/strong> is at once partnering with the legendary <strong>Fighter Weapons School<\/strong> of the US Navy (commonly known as Top Gun), as well as it is supporting the <em>\u201cSilver Spitfire \u2013 The Longest Flight\u201d<\/em> project, with pilots <strong>Steve Boultbee Brooks<\/strong> and <strong>Matt Jones<\/strong> circumnavigating the globe aboard a fully restored <strong>Spitfire<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"iwc-pilots-watch-chronograph-top-gun-strike-fighter-tactics-instructor\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/iwc-pilots-watch-chronograph-top-gun-strike-fighter-tactics-instructor.8ea53b3cfa5a.jpg\" alt=\"iwc pilots watch chronograph top gun strike fighter tactics instructor\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While hoping <strong>IWC<\/strong> will eventually decide to extend the availability of the <strong>Pilot<\/strong>\u2018<strong>s<\/strong> <strong>Watch Chronograph Top Gun<\/strong> \u201cS<em>trike Fighter Tactics Instructor<\/em>\u201d (pictured above) to watch collectors in the near future (something that is currently restricted to instructors), the <strong>Spitfire Club<\/strong> by <strong>IWC Italy<\/strong> comes in the style of the <strong>1940s<\/strong>, that paved the way for the <strong>Spitfire<\/strong> aircraft to become a legend.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"pier-francesco-favino-iwc\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/pier-francesco-favino-iwc.48e0cb317314.JPG\" alt=\"pierfrancesco favino\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The big squared room was adorned with aviator-inspired books and memorabilia. The event saw a list of special guests attending, some of them being <strong>IWC Ambassadors<\/strong> like <strong>Pierfrancesco Favino<\/strong>, on his way back from the <strong>Cannes Film Festival<\/strong>. He introduced the movie \u201c<em>The Longest Flight<\/em>\u201d to the audience, whereas <strong>Dj Albertino<\/strong> entertained the participants along with Florentine-based pop and roll music band \u201c<em>The Street Clerks<\/em>\u201c, who perform and re-arrange songs from the 60s along with modern tunes like \u201c<em>Hey Boy Hey Girl<\/em>\u201d by <strong>The Chemical Brothers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"rudy-zerbi-beppe-ambrosini-spitfire-club\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/rudy-zerbi-beppe-ambrosini-spitfire-club.b3601c6036ac.JPG\" alt=\"rudy zerbi beppe ambrosini spitfire club\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Among the special guests were also <strong>Rudy Zerbi<\/strong>, who welcomed guests together with <strong>Beppe Ambrosini<\/strong>, <strong>Brand Manager IWC Italy<\/strong>, actress <strong>Serena Autieri<\/strong> and <strong>Fabio Capello<\/strong>, while <strong>Andrea Berton<\/strong>, <strong>IWC<\/strong> brand ambassador, and star chef, was looking after a refined food selection. What about the <strong>IWC watches<\/strong> instead? The <strong>2019 Spitfire<\/strong> and <strong>Top Gun<\/strong> collections were displayed just at the entrance of the area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"iwc-pilots-watch-spitfire-collection\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/iwc-pilots-watch-spitfire-collection.7d04690dbf4e.JPG\" alt=\"iwc-pilots-watch-spitfire-collection\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <strong>IWC Big Pilot\u2019s Watch Perpetual Calendar Spitfire Bronze<\/strong> and the <strong>IWC Pilot\u2019s Watch Top Gun Ceratanium<\/strong>\u2122 for example were not missing; for your further information, the second one will be soon reviewed in-depth.
