What is a <strong>Rolex<\/strong> \u201c<em>Double Nine<\/em>\u201d and why is this story so extraordinary?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"rolex-air-king-double-nine-116900-due\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/rolex-air-king-double-nine-116900-due.0bcd481eb161.jpg\" alt=\"rolex-air-king-double-nine-116900-due\">It all started last month when <strong>Watchfinder<\/strong> published a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=mDyFyynEe4U&amp;t=204s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>new video<\/strong><\/span><\/a> on their <strong>YouTube<\/strong> channel; the brand\u2019s videos are different from the competition, they\u2019re not aimed solely at promoting the watches they sell, they instead help expert collectors and new buyers to make the right choice when looking for their new luxury watch.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">From this point of view, <strong>Watchfinder<\/strong> pride themselves with adopting a smart and elegant editorial style, that is unique in the pre-owned business scenario. This case is no different. The video talks one of the less coveted steel <strong>Rolex<\/strong>; at least in <strong>Italy<\/strong>, the <strong>Air<\/strong>\u2013<strong>King<\/strong> is not as famous as a <strong>Rolex Pepsi<\/strong>, a <strong>Rolex Batman<\/strong> or a <strong>Rolex Daytona<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"rolex-air-king-double-nine-116900-uno\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/rolex-air-king-double-nine-116900-uno.1d3d929e1a8c.jpg\" alt=\"rolex-air-king-double-nine-116900-uno\">Superb video quality along with professional and original story-telling complement each video. Since I subscribed to <strong>Watchfinder<\/strong>\u2018s <strong>YouTube<\/strong> channel, I periodically receive alerts about any new video content released, and when I first read this video\u2019s title my curiosity aroused, and I was captivated.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Which is the topic? <strong>Watchfinder<\/strong> found a one-of-a-kind <a href=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/en\/rolex-air-king-116900-oystersteel-watch-hands-on-horbiter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Rolex Air<\/strong>\u2013<strong>King<\/strong> <strong>116900<\/strong><\/span><\/a> that features a couple of nines instead of a standard pair of three and nine, on the dial. Are we sure this is a one-off? It is, according to what we understood. How is it possible that <strong>Rolex<\/strong> made such a mistake?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"rolex-air-king-116900-uno\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/rolex-air-king-116900-uno.fb2478e6e922.jpg\" alt=\"rolex-air-king-116900-uno\">For the record, the source is not mentioned in the video; the story-teller focuses on guessing how this thing happened given that <strong>Rolex<\/strong> is so structured and well industrially organized that what came out is hard to believe.<strong> Rolex<\/strong> is by far one of the most solid watch manufacturers whose quality rate is second to none (even if such a mistake does not affect a product\u2019s reliability at all).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Rolex<\/strong> is also a fully vertically integrated manufacturer, that looks after every single part of a watch and oversees every single step of the production process, without leaving room to even the smallest flaw. Except, in this case, it seems.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"rolex-air-king-116900-due\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/rolex-air-king-116900-due.a4e56374e00b.jpg\" alt=\"rolex-air-king-116900-due\">It means no one has noticed this defect as the timepiece was rolling through the assembly line, nor did the retailer and the final owner of the watch when he finally bought it. Unknowingly, he became the lucky owner of the rarest <strong>Rolex<\/strong> <strong>Air<\/strong>\u2013<strong>King<\/strong> ever, more unique than a <strong>Rolex<\/strong> <strong>Patrizzi<\/strong>, and whose exclusivity is on par with a <strong>Gronchi Rosa<\/strong> stamp.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Chance or intent? Is it possible that no one has ever noticed it along the way? It is reasonable to doubt, considering <strong>Rolex<\/strong>\u2018s brand strategy. However, it\u2019s pure speculation. We will never know the true story, but one thing is sure: it turned the <strong>Air<\/strong>\u2013<strong>King<\/strong>, that has never been the most admired <strong>Oyster<\/strong> and less so is the current one, from a frog into a prince.
