It is the re-issue of a competition for gentlemen\u2019s drivers that was very popular during the early 20<sup>th<\/sup> century and joined, back then, the likes of legendary races like the <strong>Mille Miglia<\/strong> and the <strong>Targa<\/strong> <strong>Florio<\/strong>, and gorgeous events like the <strong>Concorso Eleganza Villa d\u2019Este<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"iwc-pilots-watch-chronograph-top-gun-edition-mojave-desert-1\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/iwc-pilots-watch-chronograph-top-gun-edition-mojave-desert-1.4a182f0159c1.jpg\" alt=\"iwc pilots watch chronograph top gun edition mojave desert 1\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In times where car enthusiasts and entrepreneurs alike try and revive events that marked our history, the <strong>Coppa Milano<\/strong>\u2013<strong>Sanremo<\/strong> was a not-to-be-missed opportunity, given its pedigree; it was first launched in <strong>1906<\/strong>, a decade that was marked by a fast advance in mass motorization.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"mercedes-300-sl-1\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/mercedes-300-sl-1.d4f138a91f45.jpg\" alt=\"mercedes 300 sl 1\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Mercedes<\/strong>\u2013<strong>Benz<\/strong> and <strong>IWC<\/strong> sponsor the event and bring every year on an <strong>Italian<\/strong> racetrack, no other than the legendary <strong>Autodromo of Monza<\/strong>, the whole range of <strong>Mercedes-AMG<\/strong> cars and the latest collection of <strong>IWC Pilot\u2019s Watches<\/strong>, along with vintage and highly-sought after vehicles, like the <strong>Mercedes<\/strong>\u2013<strong>Benz<\/strong> <strong>300SL<\/strong> or the <strong>Mercedes<\/strong>\u2013<strong>Benz<\/strong> <strong>190SL<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"porsche-356a-speedster\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/porsche-356a-speedster.a9e21b0f811d.jpg\" alt=\"porsche 356a speedster\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The race, developed over the course of three days, started from the <strong>Autodromo<\/strong>\u2018s grid on <strong>Thursday 28 March<\/strong> and finished two days later in <strong>Sanremo<\/strong>. The racetrack\u2019s paddock was crammed with plenty of collectors\u2019 cars, that included not only <strong>Mercedes<\/strong>\u2018, but sports cars that made history, including a <strong>1952 Alfa Romeo 1900C<\/strong>, a <strong>1957 Porsche 356 Speedster<\/strong> and a <strong>1972 BMW 2002 Turbo<\/strong>, to name a few.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"coppa-milano-sanremo-mercedes-benz-iwc-2019\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/coppa-milano-sanremo-mercedes-benz-iwc-2019.193f2a6639ae.jpg\" alt=\"coppa milano-sanremo mercedes-benz iwc 2019\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <strong>Coppa<\/strong> <strong>Milano<\/strong>\u2013<strong>Sanremo<\/strong> gathers gentlemen drivers coming from around the globe that make up a starting grid comprised of <strong>95 racing crews<\/strong> (most of which are Italian) this year, whose cars fully summarize a period where pure mechanics and roaring engines reigned over electronics.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"iwc-pilots-watch-spitfire-chronograph-2019\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/iwc-pilots-watch-spitfire-chronograph-2019.f63d3a1f774a.jpg\" alt=\"iwc pilots watch spitfire chronograph 2019\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>IWC<\/strong> is one of the partners of the <strong>Coppa Milano<\/strong>\u2013<strong>Sanremo<\/strong>, and its current offering is in keeping with the spirit of the competition. The <strong>Spitfire<\/strong> collection, whose timepieces are a nod to historical military aviation, is a perfect match to a <strong>Mercedes 300SL<\/strong> whereas a modern <strong>IWC Big Pilot\u2019s Watch<\/strong> <strong>can be naturally associated to a current AMG sports sedan<\/strong> as we did last year in <strong>Cernobbio<\/strong>. The two guys who were driving the official car of the brand, a stunning <strong>190SL<\/strong>, had an <strong>IWC Pilot\u2019s Watch Automatic Spitfire<\/strong> and an <strong>IWC Pilot\u2019s Watch Chronograph Spitfire<\/strong> wrapped around their wrists, respectively.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"iwc-pilots-watches-top-gun-double-chronograph-ceratanium-2\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/iwc-pilots-watches-top-gun-double-chronograph-ceratanium-2.fb004130dcd2.jpg\" alt=\"iwc pilots watches top gun double chronograph ceratanium 2\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Mercedes<\/strong>\u2013<strong>Benz<\/strong> is, however, a visionary brand whose <strong>Mercedes-AMG<\/strong> range of cars represents the best in terms of technology and pure performance; I was lucky enough to test drive some of their vehicles on more than an occasion, on and off the track. The German brand has the most extensive offering of high-performance cars on the market that includes a\u00a0<strong>Mercedes-AMG<\/strong> variant of its off-road <strong>G<\/strong>\u2013<strong>Class<\/strong>, the <strong>G 63<\/strong>, too and most of them were available for a test drive on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"mercedes-amg-a35-4matic\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/mercedes-amg-a35-4matic.eb982e00d4d3.jpg\" alt=\"mercedes amg a35 4matic\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Above all, I would mention the <strong>Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4Matic+<\/strong>, that replaced the <strong>Giulia Quadrifoglio<\/strong> as the fastest four-door sedan at the <strong>N\u00fcrburgring<\/strong>, and the <strong>Mercedes-AMG A35 4Matic<\/strong>, the hot hatch that allows you to access the <strong>Mercedes-AMG<\/strong> world.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"iwc-pilots-watches-top-gun-double-chronograph-ceratanium\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/iwc-pilots-watches-top-gun-double-chronograph-ceratanium.29ee392aeba7.jpg\" alt=\"iwc pilots watches top gun double chronograph ceratanium\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During such events, you\u2019re usually allowed to take a more in-depth look at the <strong>IWC<\/strong> product novelties. I got once again my hands\u00a0on timepieces like the <strong>IWC Big Pilot\u2019s Watch Perpetual Calendar Spitfire Bronze<\/strong> that I covered already upon my return from <strong>SIHH 2019<\/strong>, along with the <strong>IWC Pilot\u2019s Watch Double Chronograph Top Gun Ceratanium\u00ae<\/strong>. The latter well summarizes the brand\u2019s expertise in crafting innovative materials: the <strong>Ceratanium\u00ae<\/strong> is a proprietary alloy that combines the scratch-resistance of ceramics with the sturdiness and hypoallergenic properties guaranteed by titanium.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"iwc-pilots-watch-chronograph-top-gun-edition-mojave-desert\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/iwc-pilots-watch-chronograph-top-gun-edition-mojave-desert.fc9859fbc10c.jpg\" alt=\"iwc pilots watch chronograph top gun edition mojave desert\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, it is not time here for any product review or technical data-sheet, but good vibes and re-enactments instead.
