Let\u2019s try and find out.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"rolex-crowned-logo\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/rolex-crowned-logo.3d76d694436e.jpg\" alt=\"rolex-crowned-logo\">Considering that we\u2019re talking about name and logo behind the world\u2019s most powerful watch brand, according to an <strong>Interbrand<\/strong>\u2018s report released in <strong>2016<\/strong>, curiosity is natural because its origins help\u00a0explaining why is <strong>Rolex<\/strong> so appealing and why is\u00a0such a\u00a0longstanding brand strategy, that dates back to the first half of the 20<sup>th<\/sup> century, so successful.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"hans-wilsdorf-founder-rolex\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/hans-wilsdorf-founder-rolex.24c05ca64ff4.jpg\" alt=\"hans-wilsdorf-founder-rolex\">There are actually two theories: <strong>the first<\/strong>\u00a0one is quite romantic and tells that <strong>Hans Wilsdorf<\/strong>, the brand\u2019s founder,\u00a0was whispered by someone else\u00a0the\u00a0name <strong>Rolex<\/strong>\u00a0while he was traveling on a bus in <strong>London<\/strong>, the city he had moved to (he was born in <strong>Germany<\/strong>) before going to <strong>Geneva<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"rolex-foundation-certificate-1908\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/rolex-foundation-certificate-1908.e8aa68e58c5e.jpg\" alt=\"rolex-foundation-certificate-1908\"><strong>The second one<\/strong>, that seems to be more credible, tells that <strong>ROLEX<\/strong> is actually a merger of the words \u201c<em>horlogere<\/em>\u201d and \u201c<em>exquisite<\/em>\u201d that sounds in English like <em>\u201cho<strong>ROL<\/strong>ogical\u00a0<strong>EX<\/strong>cellence\u201d<\/em>, although it seems they have not always been perfect, according to what <strong>Watchfinder<\/strong> found out: a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/en\/rolex-air-king-double-nine-story-by-watchfinder\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>one<\/strong>\u2013<strong>of<\/strong>\u2013<strong>a<\/strong>\u2013<strong>kind<\/strong> <strong>Rolex<\/strong> <strong>Air<\/strong>\u2013<strong>King<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Hans Wilsdorf<\/strong> also affirmed that he liked this name because it was short, smart, easy to pronounce in any language and looked symmetrical.
