Every year, at the end of August, the F1 Charity Night<\/strong>, which is the event dedicated to raising funds for projects carried out by the Laureus Italia Foundation<\/strong>, takes place. For those of you who are not in the know, this event celebrates the Foundation<\/strong>\u2018s projects aimed at helping young\u00a0disadvantaged\u00a0people living on the outskirts of the major Italian towns such as Milan<\/strong>, Rome<\/strong> and Naples<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"F1-Charity-Night-Fondazione-Laureus-2018-3\"It is no coincidence that this event takes place during the weekend where the Italian Formula One\u00a0Grand Prix<\/strong>\u00a0officially takes place, because the event itself has a major imapct and two of the biggest sponsors of the gala dinner, namely Mercedes<\/strong> and IWC<\/strong>, are partnering in Formula One<\/strong> as well as they are main sponsors of the Laures Sport for Good Foundation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"alex-del-piero\"The F1 Charity Night<\/strong><\/span><\/a> is one of the most important events of the year for Laureus Italy<\/strong> and it is an evening where very special items, that include fine watches<\/strong>, cars<\/strong> and memorabilia for the die-hard sports fan<\/strong>, are auctioned. The\u00a0proceeds of the offers help finance a lot of new projects and\u00a0since\u00a0Mercedes Petronas AMG<\/strong><\/span><\/a> is involved in the Grand Prix<\/strong>\u00a0of Monza<\/strong>\u00a0as well\u00a0as in the fund raising campaign, a driver from the Formula One<\/strong> team is usually invited.<\/p>\n

\"F1-Charity-Night-Fondazione-Laureus-2018-2\"Lewis Hamilton<\/strong>, who\u2019s personally involved in many\u00a0humanitarian and social projects too and was last year in charge of welcoming all the guests attending the gala dinner, has been this year replaced by his team-mate\u00a0Valtteri Bottas<\/strong>, who was interviewed by Formula One<\/strong>\u2018s renowned Italian reporter Federica Masolin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"bebe-vio\"Among the many sports personalities\u00a0who have now permanently joined the team of Laureus<\/strong>\u2018 ambassadors, were the beautiful Bebe Vio<\/strong>, the famous rugby star\u00a0Ian<\/strong> McKinley<\/strong> and former football player\u00a0Alex Del Piero<\/strong>, just to name a few.\u00a0As far as the items auctioned were concerned \u2013 the charity totaled over \u20ac300<\/strong>,000<\/strong> \u2013 they included some true collector\u2019s pieces among which the watches were the most coveted since they considerably raise their value from the moment they are assigned to the final winner.<\/p>\n

\"iwc-portofino-hand-wound-eight-days-moon-unique-piece\"This\u00a0year the IWC Portofino<\/strong> collection got under the spotlight \u2013 just take a look at our hands-on review\u00a0from the SIHH<\/strong><\/span><\/a> \u2013 and\u00a0IWC<\/strong> auctioned therefore a very special<\/strong>\u00a0Portofino<\/strong><\/span><\/a> crafted in platinum<\/strong>, a\u00a0one-off piece as it was, last year, the blue IWC Big Pilot<\/strong>\u2018s Watch Perpetual Calendar\u00a0<\/strong>in steel.<\/p>\n

\"nelson-mandela\"All the proceeds from the evening will help fund new sports projects because, as Nelson Mandela<\/strong> used to say: \u201cSport has the power to change the world\u201d.<\/p>\n

\"F1-Charity-Night-Fondazione-Laureus-2018-1\"1500<\/strong>\u00a0are the children involved in the projects carried out by Laureus Italia<\/strong>, that involve more than 20 different sports activities<\/strong>. Moreover,\u00a0Laureus<\/strong> Italy<\/strong>\u00a0not only organizes these projects but fosters coaches and educators to\u00a0carry them on independently\u00a0in their towns, respectively, once they have been rolled-out.<\/p>\n

\"F1-Charity-Night-Fondazione-Laureus-2018-4\"The projects organized by the Foundation<\/strong> are not only constantly growing year after year, their effectiveness is also being\u00a0monitored with the support of the Bocconi University<\/strong>, which helps Laureus Italia<\/strong>\u00a0evaluate their social impact through a\u00a0standard KPI<\/strong>\u00a0called SROI<\/strong>, or Social Return on Investment<\/strong>, which allows them to quantify the social and economic impact on young generations and disadvantaged urban areas alike.<\/p>\n
