It would be more correct if we were to call it the \u201csporty Portugieser\u201d of the collection, and also the most avant-garde among the chronographs within this collection. The idea comes from <strong>IWC<\/strong>\u2019s idea of launching a special series of their <strong>Yacht Club Chronograph<\/strong> during the summer-time, and a series of new nylon-made straps that can fit all their watches \u2013 a solution that will allow you to wear a <strong>Pilot<\/strong>, a <strong>Da Vinci<\/strong> or a <strong>Portofino<\/strong> also in summer and <strong>24 hours a day<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"iwc-pilot-mark-xviii-IW327002-Summerstrap\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/iwc-pilot-mark-xviii-IW327002-Summerstrap.a8afb05a0f32.jpg\" alt=\"iwc-pilot-mark-xviii-IW327002-Summerstrap\">A smart idea, if you consider that it is quite difficult to use a <strong>Pilot<\/strong> with a leather strap while sailing or when you are by the sea in 35 degrees Celsius. Other watches like the <strong>Mark XVIII<\/strong>, for example, can boast a design and a degree of versatility that suit all seasons, even without necessarily having to opt for an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/en\/iwc-aquatimer-automatic-2000-iw358001-photos-price\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>IWC Aquatimer Automatic 2000 IW358001<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0for example that remains a professional diver\u2019s watch and that should be your first choice if you are plunging into the sea. In my opinion, this idea was born from <strong>IWC<\/strong>\u2019s willingness to respond to a specific request from their customers (just take a quick look at <strong>forums<\/strong> and <strong>Instagram<\/strong> profiles to see what I am talking about). For years, customers have been buying aftermarket straps, but what they actually wanted was a strap made in <strong>Schaffhausen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"Iwc-Portugieser-Yacht-Club-Chronograph-IW390507-due\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/Iwc-Portugieser-Yacht-Club-Chronograph-IW390507-due.711b2ed6cc07.jpg\" alt=\"Iwc-Portugieser-Yacht-Club-Chronograph-IW390507-due\">IWC<\/strong> filled this gap the same it used to be in the past when you would buy an <strong>Aquatimer<\/strong>, and now everyone can finally equip their <strong>IWC<\/strong> timepiece with a \u201csummer strap\u201d that is made in <strong>Schaffhausen<\/strong>. In the case of the <strong>IWC Portugieser Yacht Club Chronograph<\/strong> the story is actually a different one, since this is a new version of an existing model that underwent some minor product modifications. The timepiece was launched in <strong>2010<\/strong> as a sportier edition of the classic <strong>Portugieser<\/strong>, of which it has preserved the two-counter-layout that is typical of the original <strong>Portugieser<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <strong>Yacht Club<\/strong> introduced an in-house built calibre to the collection and also the viewing of the <strong>60 minutes<\/strong> and the <strong>12<\/strong>\u2013<strong>chrono<\/strong>\u2013<strong>hours<\/strong> at 12 o\u2019clock within the same register \u2013 an additional complication if compared to the <strong>Portugieser<\/strong> that was later taken up on the <strong>Portugieser Chronograph Classic<\/strong> too. The main suspect of these features is the <strong>89361<\/strong> <strong>calibre<\/strong>; a complicated calibre that is also one of <strong>IWC<\/strong>\u2019s most famous ones. It comes with the <strong>Flyback<\/strong> function that, performance-wise, inevitably places it a step above any of the classic <strong>Chrono Portugieser<\/strong> watches. With regard to special or limited editions of the <strong>Yacht Club Chronograph<\/strong>, to celebrate the <strong>2014 Volvo Ocean Race<\/strong>, <strong>IWC<\/strong> presented the beautiful <a href=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/en\/the-iwc-portuguese-yacht-club-chronograph-ocean-racer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>IWC Portuguese Yacht Club Chronograph Ocean Racer<\/strong><\/span><\/a> (back then it was still called <strong>Portuguese<\/strong> and not <strong>Portugieser<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"Iwc-Portugieser-Yacht-Club-Chronograph-IW390507-uno\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/Iwc-Portugieser-Yacht-Club-Chronograph-IW390507-uno.d809759abb6a.jpg\" alt=\"Iwc-Portugieser-Yacht-Club-Chronograph-IW390507-uno\">An <strong>IWC Portugieser Yacht Club Chronograph<\/strong> does not need a nylon-made strap, as it was originally launched as a \u201cyacht watch\u201d and despite its alligator leather strap (like the <strong>Ocean Race<\/strong> version), the real nature of this watch has always been that of a watch with a rubber strap. Possibly what was missing was a version strongly inspired by the bright colors of the summer-time, although I tend to naturally associate the <strong>blue color<\/strong> (and probably the Schaffhausen manufacturer too) to the color of the <strong>Laureus<\/strong> association that <strong>IWC<\/strong> have been partnering\u00a0with for years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <strong>IWC blue<\/strong> is a particularly recognizable pantone and despite this <strong>Yacht Club<\/strong> not being a <strong>Laureus<\/strong> watch \u2013 and I have no confirmation about the type of pantone that was used on here \u2013 it automatically reminds me of a <strong>500112<\/strong> <strong>reference<\/strong> or a <strong>376404<\/strong> <strong>reference<\/strong>, due to beautiful color alternations between the <strong>blue dial<\/strong> and the <strong>white registers<\/strong>. This is definitely one of the most successful color combinations in the recent history of <strong>IWC<\/strong> and I do hope that the manufacturer will keep on using it as one of their special signs of recognition. Another useful feature lies in the pin buckle that replaces the deployant buckle on the versions with the slate gray dial and the silver dial \u2013 a feature that further distinguishes an <strong>IWC Portugieser Yacht Club Chronograph Blue<\/strong> from its \u201cbrothers\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"Iwc-Portugieser-Yacht-Club-Chronograph-IW390507\" src=\"\/media\/CACHE\/images\/uploads\/Iwc-Portugieser-Yacht-Club-Chronograph-IW390507.41527efa0282.jpg\" alt=\"Iwc-Portugieser-Yacht-Club-Chronograph-IW390507\">The admired <strong>89361 calibre<\/strong> \u2013 one of <strong>IWC<\/strong>\u2019s most-loved calibres among enthusiasts \u2013 lies within a <strong>43.5mm<\/strong>\u2013<strong>case<\/strong>. The calibre features <strong>68 hours of power reserve<\/strong>, the <strong>Flyback<\/strong> function for the immediate start\/stop of the chrono seconds hand and a \u201chack seconds\u201d function. This is a well-renowned calibre, since the <strong>89000 family<\/strong> can be defined as the foundation for the crafting of complicated calibres, such as the <strong>perpetual calendar with a chronograph<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On the side of the case-back, a large oscillating mass stands out, it might be a case or maybe a well-though choice in accordance with the roots of the <strong>Portugieser<\/strong>, but it reminds us of sextant even if the same geometry is also taken up by the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/iwc-da-vinci-perpetual-calendar-chronograph-2017-recensione\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">IWC\u00a0Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar Chronograph 2017<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>for example.
