Whether you are a fan of\u00a0motorbikes or not, that film tells, through Anthony Hopkins<\/strong>\u2019s\u00a0masterful interpretation, one of the most beautiful tales of\u00a0motorcycling and is one of the most beautiful stories of the American\u00a0pioneering spirit that inspire the whole world, reminding us that\u00a0everything is possible in life if you use your passion and dedication.\u00a0If you are a motorcyclist, you will certainly know that the Indian\u00a0Motorcycles<\/strong><\/span> brand is a pillar of\u00a0the United States of America<\/strong>, of its\u00a0history as a manufacturing country, as are the \u201cBig three<\/strong>\u201d\u00a0\u00a0based in Detroit<\/strong> or the Coca<\/strong>\u2013Cola<\/strong> brand.<\/p>\n

\"Indian-Motorcycles-spirit-of-munro\"It is by far the first\u00a0motorcycle brand founded in America<\/strong> (1901) and this also the message\u00a0that the revived Indian Motorcycles<\/strong> with its European headquarters in\u00a0Switzerland continues to repeat both as a message of marketing and\u00a0product. It also reminds us of the deeds of Burt\u00a0Munro<\/strong>, the \u201ccrazy\u201d\u00a0New Zealander<\/strong> who gave Indian<\/strong> glory \u2013 a legacy on which the American\u00a0brand invests as much as Baume & Mercier<\/strong> does since in mid-2017\u00a0decided to get together with the American<\/strong> brand.<\/p>\n

About partnerships between brands coming from similar sectors.<\/h2>\n

There is no doubt that we live in an era of intersection between\u00a0consumer sectors that are driven by the habits and passions of the\u00a0public. It is not a mystery that those who love motorcycles or\u00a0motorcyclists too would definitely go for items like a nice jacket, a\u00a0nice pair of shoes and a nice mechanical watch.<\/p>\n

\"Baume-et-mercier-Clifton-Club-Indian-Burt-Munro-Tribute-Limited-Edition-1\"Those who choose an\u00a0Indian<\/strong> do not choose any motorcycle, but rather make a precise\u00a0choice, and the same can be said when they buy a watch. The step is\u00a0short \u2013 those who love mechanics, also love fine mechanics and\u00a0those who choose an Indian<\/strong> or an uncommon brand can be described as\u00a0someone, who a<\/strong>) has a not negligible knowledge of the world of two\u00a0wheels and b<\/strong>) knows thoroughly what is buying.<\/p>\n

It is on this basis\u00a0that a part of the partnership between Indian Motorcycles<\/strong> and Baume et\u00a0Mercier<\/strong>\u00a0was signed: culture<\/strong>. In addition, Baume & Mercier<\/strong> chose, as it\u00a0did with the Cobra<\/strong> brand (Baume & Mercier Clifton Club Shelby Cobra CSX 2299 Limited Edition<\/span><\/strong><\/a>), a historical brand that has deep roots in\u00a0the historic American tradition, rather than a generalist brand for\u00a0mass consumers.<\/p>\n

\"Baume-et-mercier-Clifton-Club-Indian-Burt-Munro-Tribute-Limited-Edition\"Baume & Mercier<\/strong> built three watches on this specific\u00a0partnership \u2013 the first and most evocative was presented at the end of\u00a0summer and largely anticipated with a dinner-event at Ceresio 7<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0in\u00a0Milan<\/strong>, two others were launched in January<\/strong> at the 2018 SIHH<\/strong>. It\u2019s not\u00a0over yet,\u00a0because this article opens the way to the celebrations of\u00a0the Indian Motorcycles<\/strong> and Baume & Mercier<\/strong> world, which will open on\u00a0the Vairano<\/strong> racing circuit on May 21st<\/sup><\/strong>, where we will be present with\u00a0our cameras. Lovers of two wheels and mechanical chronographs \u2013 you\u00a0should note down this date because we will be live on Instagram<\/strong> from\u00a0the racing circuit.<\/p>\n

The Baume & Mercier Clifton Club Indian Burt Munro Tribute Limited Edition.<\/h2>\n

The Baume & Mercier Clifton Club Indian Burt Munro Tribute<\/strong>\u00a0Limited Edition<\/strong><\/span> is the\u00a0chronograph that opened the series of chronographs dedicated to Indian\u00a0Motorcycles<\/strong>. It is the celebratory watch, the one that tells of the\u00a0myth of Burt Munro<\/strong> and is therefore the one of the three timepieces\u00a0with the strongest meaning \u2013 the red of the soft calfskin strap with\u00a0the Baume & Mercier<\/strong> logo stamped on it, the lucky number of Burt<\/strong> (a\u00a0black 35<\/strong> on a yellow background<\/strong>) stamped on the dial that makes it\u00a0look like a chrono with two vertical counters. All these are elements\u00a0that are strongly evocative of the spirit that the designer of the\u00a0Swiss brand has been able to enhance the most.<\/p>\n

\"Baume-et-mercier-Clifton-Club-Indian-Burt-Munro-Tribute-Limited-Edition-3\"With the Baume & Mercier Clifton Club<\/strong>\u00a0Indian Burt Munro Tribute<\/strong>\u00a0Limited Edition<\/strong> a slightly\u00a0different case and yet another interpretation of the Baume & Mercier<\/strong>\u00a0Clifton<\/strong> Club<\/strong><\/span><\/a> case\u00a0makes its debut. The Clifton Club<\/strong>,\u00a0with its unmistakable case side that tapers\u00a0towards the\u00a0lugs, has been exclusively edited in the only\u00a0time\u00a0version so far. A\u00a0\u201cfull dial\u201d watch, as I like to define it\u00a0because the bezel made of black ceramic is so thin that\u00a0the dial looks wider than usual and close to the 44mm<\/strong> size of the steel case.\u00a0A rigorous geometry, on which the Italic \u201cI<\/em>\u201d for Indian stands out and\u00a0acts as a balance wheel at the end of the central chrono seconds hand.<\/p>\n

\"Baume-et-mercier-Clifton-Club-Indian-Burt-Munro-Tribute-Limited-Edition-4\"I\u2019m not a fan of commemorative watches in general, but I have to admit\u00a0that the Baume & Mercier Clifton Club Indian Burt Munro Tribute Limited Edition\u00a0<\/strong>is\u00a0not a crowdy chrono, but rather a highly evocative chronograph, where,\u00a0in my opinion, only the size of the logo on the case-back is slightly\u00a0too excessive. It will be released in 1967 copies<\/strong> to celebrate the\u00a0year\u00a0Burt Munro<\/strong> achieved the speed record in Bonneville Salt Flats<\/strong>. The\u00a0reason why the timepiece premiered in 2017<\/strong> is to pay tribute to the\u00a050th<\/sup> anniversary<\/strong> of that memorable achievement. Two other editions of\u00a0the Clifton Club<\/strong> were added at the beginning of the year.<\/p>\n

The Baume & Mercier Clifton Club Indian Legend Tribute Scout Limited Edition and the \u00a0Baume & Mercier Clifton Club Indian Legend Tribute Chief Limited Edition.<\/h2>\n

If you are familiar with the Indian<\/strong> brand, you know that the Scout<\/strong> and\u00a0the Chief<\/strong> are two historical motorcycle ranges of this American<\/strong> brand.\u00a0In the Baume & Mercier Clifton Club Indian Legend Tribute Scout\u00a0Limited Edition<\/strong> it is not only the colours and hues that change. The\u00a0hours and minutes counters are coloured in the same matte black of the\u00a0Scout<\/strong> (it\u2019s the same Pantone) and the dial is slightly skeletonized in\u00a0the middle.<\/p>\n

The date has been moved to 9 o\u2019clock, within the\u00a0continuous seconds counter and it shows the figure 1901<\/strong> rather than\u00a0the figure 19<\/strong> near the 19th<\/sup> day of the month<\/strong> \u2013 a tribute to the\u00a0foundation year of Indian Motorcycles<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"Baume-et-mercier-Clifton-Club-Indian-Legend-Tribute-Scout-Limited-Edition\"Moreover, the chrono buttons\u00a0and the steel crown have undergone an ADLC<\/strong>\u2013treatment<\/strong> (Amorphous\u00a0Diamond Like Carbon<\/em>) to increase their protection in case of\u00a0accidental impacts. Another reference to the American<\/strong> tradition \u2013 the\u00a0brown leather strap is made by Horween<\/strong><\/span>, the historic brand from\u00a0Chicago<\/strong> that was founded only four years after the creation of Indian<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"Baume-et-mercier-Clifton-Club-Indian-Legend-Tribute-Chief-Limited-Edition\"The Baume & Mercier Clifton Club Indian Legend Tribute Chief Limited\u00a0Edition<\/strong> is the most \u201cneutral<\/em>\u201d or reassuring version of the collection,\u00a0the only one to have a reverse panda dial<\/strong> on a steel bracelet with a\u00a0deployant clasp, although I believe that such a watch should go\u00a0together with one of the two leather straps available. All of these\u00a0timepieces are equipped with the reliable Valjoux 7750<\/strong> calibre with 48\u00a0hours of power reserve<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
