Leather-working is not an exclusively Italian tradition and it is certainly not just a European one; we can boast a long tradition in this field, but so do our American friends, who have been working with leather in an excellent manner since the beginning of the last century.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <strong>Horween<\/strong> brand is still managed by a family member of the third generation \u2013 <strong>Arnold Horween III<\/strong> \u2013 with the same maniacal passion for quality that some Italian ateliers also have.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"Horween-leather-2\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/Horween-leather-2.jpg\" alt=\"Horween-leather-2\">What does <strong>Horween<\/strong> have to do with the\u00a0<strong>Mido Multifort<\/strong>? When it comes to artisan-made leather \u2013 like the one from\u00a0<strong>Horween<\/strong> \u2013\u00a0this association comes quite naturally, because the leather strap is possibly the most important customization element in a watch;\u00a0the only part that a customer can objectively personalize, unless they opt for the dial and the case (a more invasive intervention that <strong>Mido<\/strong> itself has already performed with the crafting of its <strong>Mido Multifort Escape Horween Special Edition<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"Horween-leather\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/Horween-leather.jpg\" alt=\"Horween-leather\">Historically speaking <strong>Horween<\/strong> and the <strong>Mido Multifort<\/strong> have a lot in common,\u00a0although the paths taken by the <strong>Chicago<\/strong>\u2013<strong>based<\/strong> workshop and the <strong>Swiss<\/strong>\u2013<strong>born<\/strong> brand have been quite different throughout the course of history. The <strong>Multifort<\/strong> is <strong>Mido<\/strong>\u2018s historical model, the collection that has passed 80 years of age and that this year <strong>Mido<\/strong> crafted in its <strong>Escape<\/strong> version;\u00a0a <strong>44<\/strong>\u2013<strong>mm<\/strong>\u2013<strong>steel<\/strong>\u2013<strong>case<\/strong> and an \u201c<em>aged and sand-blasted<\/em>\u201d surface treatment (as <strong>Mido<\/strong> itself defines it).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"Mido-Multifort-Escape-Horween-Special-Edition-4\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/Mido-Multifort-Escape-Horween-Special-Edition-4.jpg\" alt=\"Mido-Multifort-Escape-Horween-Special-Edition-4\">A finishing that is not very popular in watch-making, at least in this market segment, with a vague \u201c<em>oxidation<\/em>\u201d look that is quite <strong>Safari<\/strong>\u2013<strong>like<\/strong> and that is accentuated by the brown calf leather strap created by <strong>Horween<\/strong>. The American brand crafted a leather strap for the <strong>Mido Multifort Escape Horween Special Edition<\/strong> using its <strong>Essex<\/strong> leather.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is an achievement that required three years of development to reach the level of quality that the American brand was hoping for and that is now being used for internal productions and collaboration projects. Among the features declared by <strong>Horween<\/strong> is the special patina that the strap develops over time and this is quite an interesting statement considering how often we talk about a patina on the case, but never on the strap.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"Mido-Multifort-Escape-Horween-Special-Edition\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/Mido-Multifort-Escape-Horween-Special-Edition.jpg\" alt=\"Mido-Multifort-Escape-Horween-Special-Edition\">Among the productions that the American brand can boast, there is a 100% American one; the creation of American footballs and baseball balls (a tradition that has been lasting for 70 years). This is why, to confirm the customization principle described above, the <strong>Mido Multifort Escape Horween Special Edition<\/strong> comes with a second strap in black leather and crafted by its own brand;\u00a0 the \u201c<em>Football<\/em>\u201c.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"Mido-Multifort-Escape-Horween-Special-Edition-3\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/Mido-Multifort-Escape-Horween-Special-Edition-3.jpg\" alt=\"Mido-Multifort-Escape-Horween-Special-Edition-3\">The <strong>Mido Multifort Escape Horween Special Edition<\/strong> is not only different from the other <strong>Mido Multifort Escape<\/strong> timepieces when it comes to the strap, but also the dial version of this three-hands-watch is different from that of the other <strong>Escape<\/strong> timepieces \u2013 the \u201c<em>chemin de fer<\/em>\u201d minute ring and the indices on the dial are of a warm beige color filled with <strong>SuperLuminova<\/strong> on the Arabic indices.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"Horween-leather-3\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/Horween-leather-3.jpg\" alt=\"Horween-leather-3\">The other characteristics of the <strong>Mido Multifort Escape Horween Special Edition<\/strong> do not change at all if compared to those of the collection; a very advanced caliber and <strong>80 hours of power reserve<\/strong>. The more you use a watch on a regular basis, the greater is your \u201c<em>peace of mind<\/em>\u201d when you use it; that is to say that your number one rule is that you don\u2019t need to worry about ever adjusting your timepiece.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Personally, I would have dared a little bit more and I would have gotten rid of the date to fully complete this synthesis of vintage inspiration and the union between a brand founded in <strong>1905<\/strong> and an <strong>83<\/strong>\u2013<strong>year<\/strong>\u2013<strong>old<\/strong> collection.
