In 60 years of evolution, among which there is also its exit from the catalogue, the <strong>Omega Railmaster<\/strong> comes back on the scene as the reference point for resistance to magnetism and with a new strong and concrete technical design.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"Omega-Railmaster-master-chronometer-8806-2017-tre\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/Omega-Railmaster-master-chronometer-8806-2017-tre.jpg\" alt=\"Omega-Railmaster-master-chronometer-8806-2017-tre\">The year <strong>2017<\/strong> has been a fabulous year for <strong>Omega<\/strong>, thanks to its historic re-editions coming back as limited editions, among which is also the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/en\/omega-1957-trilogy-speedmaster-railmaster-seamaster-300-reissue-baselworld-2017\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Omega Railmaster \u201957<\/strong><\/span><\/a> that we tackled already in the pages of\u00a0<strong>Horbiter<\/strong>\u00ae; the end of year is\u00a0the moment when we\u00a0look at things and draw conclusions and also the moment when the maison from <em>Bienne<\/em> swishes its tail and launches on the market a modern re-interpretation of the <strong>Railmaster<\/strong>; namely the <strong>Omega Railmaster Master Chronometer 8806<\/strong>,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>something the fans of the brand have been waiting for since a long time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"Omega-Railmaster-master-chronometer-8806-2017-due.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/Omega-Railmaster-master-chronometer-8806-2017-due.jpg\" alt=\"Omega-Railmaster-master-chronometer-8806-2017-due\">The technical vocation of the\u00a0<strong>Omega Railmaster Master Chronometer 8806<\/strong>\u00a0is quite clear, both from the mechanical point of view (a <strong>Co<\/strong>\u2013<strong>Axial<\/strong> <strong>8806<\/strong> <strong>calibre<\/strong> that is <strong>METAS<\/strong> certified and <strong>100% in<\/strong>\u2013<strong>house<\/strong> <strong>built<\/strong>) and from the style point of view (a symmetric case measuring <strong>40mm<\/strong> in diameter and an entirely matted bracelet that proves useful in day-to-day situations, when you don\u2019t always have the time to be careful with your watch).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The dial sports a finishing that is quite rich in personality, it is vertically satin-finished and equipped with a thin cross, whose centre is in the pivot of the counters, hollow indexes filled with <strong>SuperLuminova<\/strong>\u00ae and a vintage detail given by the seconds hand with its \u201c<em>lollipop<\/em>\u201d style.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"Omega-Railmaster-master-chronometer-8806-2017-cinque\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/Omega-Railmaster-master-chronometer-8806-2017-cinque.jpg\" alt=\"Omega-Railmaster-master-chronometer-8806-2017-cinque\">The <strong>8806 calibre<\/strong> is the evolution of the <strong>8400 calibre<\/strong> hosted inside the <strong>Seamaster 300<\/strong>, it maintains the same 25,200 oscillations per hour and it guarantees a <strong>power reserve of up to 55 hours<\/strong>, thanks to its double barrel.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The refined\u00a0<strong>C\u00f4tes de Gen\u00e8ve<\/strong>\u00a0finishing is not visible on the back of the timepiece as the case-back is made of stainless steel and it sports a <strong>NAIAD Lock<\/strong> (a patent of <strong>Omega<\/strong> that allows the writings to always maintain the same position) and the embossed seahorse logo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"Omega-Railmaster-master-chronometer-8806-2017-quattro\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/Omega-Railmaster-master-chronometer-8806-2017-quattro.jpg\" alt=\"Omega-Railmaster-master-chronometer-8806-2017-quattro\">The winding crown with a screw mimics the style of the <strong>Aqua Terra<\/strong>\u2019s crown, but it is slightly flared towards the case. The degree of impermeability of the\u00a0<strong>Omega Railmaster Master Chronometer 8806<\/strong>\u00a0is <strong>up to 150 metres<\/strong>; keep in mind that the recent re-edition of the <strong>Railmaster \u201957<\/strong> is water resistant <strong>up to<\/strong> <strong>60 metres<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">From this small detail, you can understand that the aim of <strong>Omega<\/strong> was to keep the historic re-edition as faithful as possible to the original model, while taking the new <strong>Railmaster<\/strong> to a more \u201c<em>current<\/em>\u201d level of specifications.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"Omega-Railmaster-master-chronometer-8806-2017-collection\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/Omega-Railmaster-master-chronometer-8806-2017-collection.jpg\" alt=\"Omega-Railmaster-master-chronometer-8806-2017-collection\">The <strong>Omega Railmaster Master Chronometer 8806<\/strong> comes in two different dial versions, either with a bracelet or with a strap (I find the <em>nylon<\/em> strap especially beautiful) and it retails a quite a competitive price (<strong>4,600 euro<\/strong> for the strap version, while the stainless steel bracelet version retails at an additional <strong>100 euro<\/strong>). The lack of a date makes this timepiece slightly less versatile when it comes to a day-to-day use, but this small detail is easily obscured by an extremely neat and symmetrical look.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Horbiter<\/strong>\u00ae\u2019s readers can clearly see that I am a big fan of the <strong>Omega<\/strong> brand and this <strong>Railmaster<\/strong> confirms, once again, my special bond with the maison; a manufacturer that stays faithful to its roots and that is always ready to experiment, take risks and challenge the market.
