We are talking about the <strong>Montblanc 1858 Chronometer Tachymeter Limited 100<\/strong> (we dealt with the stainless steel version on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/en\/montblanc-1858-chronograph-tachymeter-blue-limited-edition-100-hands-on-photos-price\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff\"><strong>this occasion<\/strong><\/span><\/a> already), the <strong>Montblanc 1858 Automatic Dual Time<\/strong> and the <strong>Montblanc 1858 Automatic<\/strong>. All these watches are equipped with a <strong>stainless<\/strong>\u2013<strong>steel<\/strong> <strong>case<\/strong> and a <strong>bronze<\/strong> <strong>bezel <\/strong>(but the <strong>Tachymeter<\/strong> that is <strong>full bronze<\/strong>, case back excluded that is made of <strong>titanium<\/strong>); a unique combination in the world of watch-making.\u00a0The peculiarity of this material is that, with the passing of time, it creates a <em>patina<\/em> that makes it unique and therefore quite tied to its owner.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Montblanc 1858 Automatic 2\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/Montblanc_1858_Automatic_2.jpg\" style=\"width:100%\" title=\"Montblanc_1858_Automatic_2\">The design of the dial is typical of the <strong>1858<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Collection<\/strong>; an ample dial with <strong>Arabic numbers<\/strong> and \u201c<em>cathedral<\/em>\u201d <strong>indices<\/strong> coated with <em>SuperLuminova<\/em>. The same <em>SuperLuminova<\/em> coating is also present on the tips of the small seconds hands of the <strong>Dual Time<\/strong> version; a detail that I have very much appreciated. The\u00a0<strong>Tachymeter<\/strong>\u00a0comes with a beautiful <strong>champagne dial<\/strong> with <strong>sunray finishing<\/strong>\u00a0and sports a nice contrast between the <strong>polished bezel<\/strong> and the<strong> satinated case<\/strong>.\u00a0The case back ring is a <strong>bronze coloured piece of titanium<\/strong>.\u00a0The <strong>aged leather strap<\/strong> completes the vintage spirit of this collection.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Montblanc 1858 Chronograph Tachymeter Limited Edition case back\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/Montblanc_1858_Chronograph_Tachymeter_Limited_Edition_case_back.jpg\" style=\"width:100%\" title=\"Montblanc_1858_Chronograph_Tachymeter_Limited_Edition_case_back\">A special mention goes to the <strong>in<\/strong>\u2013<strong>house<\/strong> <strong>built<\/strong> <strong>Minerva<\/strong>\u00a0caliber of the <strong>Montblanc<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Chronometer Tachymeter Limited Edition 100<\/strong>. The <strong>Tachymeter<\/strong>\u00a0hosts the superb\u00a0<strong>Minerva MB M16.29<\/strong>\u00a0with <strong>column wheel mechanism<\/strong>, <strong>horizontal coupling<\/strong>, the unmistakable <strong>V<\/strong>\u2013<strong>shape<\/strong> <strong>bridge<\/strong>, and the balance wheel oscillating at\u00a0<strong>18,000\u00a0vph<\/strong> for a maximum <strong>50 hours of power reserve<\/strong>.\u00a0On the <strong>Dual Time<\/strong> version, the local hour hand can be\u00a0adjusted separately by the home hour hand, thus allowing a quicker process in setting the hour when changing timezone without affecting minutes and seconds hands.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Montblanc 1858 Automatic Dual Time\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/Montblanc_1858_Automatic_Dual_Time.jpg\" style=\"width:100%\" title=\"Montblanc_1858_Automatic_Dual_Time\">At first sight, these are well-thought-out timepieces minus the <strong>44mm<\/strong> <strong>case<\/strong> size that is probably a bit too big in my opinion on a watch that features classic lines and a vintage style; we reserve however\u00a0the right to give a more complete opinion about this timepiece as soon as we are given the chance to wear it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Montblanc 1858 Chronograph Tachymeter Limited Edition 2\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/Montblanc_1858_Chronograph_Tachymeter_Limited_Edition_2.jpg\" style=\"width:100%\" title=\"Montblanc_1858_Chronograph_Tachymeter_Limited_Edition_2\">The year 2017\u00a0of the watch-making industry starts surprising me as I could never expect to see a <strong>Montblanc 1858<\/strong> made of <strong>bronze<\/strong>; a material that is catching on more and more after its debut on two diver\u2019s watches this year (the <strong>Tudor Heritage Black Bay Bronze<\/strong> and the <strong>ORIS Carl Brashear Limited Edition<\/strong>). The baton is now in <strong>Montblanc<\/strong>\u2019s hands, and the manufacturer takes a small step ahead and uses this material on a timepiece that is much more classic than the above mentioned watches.
