These two watches represent the modern re-edition of the <strong>IWC Big Pilot's Watch 52-Calibre T.S.C.<\/strong>, a timepiece that was originally produced in 1940 by the manufacture from Schaffhausen and that was\u00a0crafted following specific and strict military guidelines.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IWC_Big_Pilots_Watch_Heritage_Watch_48_IW510301\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/IWC_Big_Pilots_Watch_Heritage_Watch_48_IW510301.jpg\" style=\"width:100%\" title=\"IWC_Big_Pilots_Watch_Heritage_Watch_48_IW510301\">This historic timepiece will celebrate its first <strong>75 years<\/strong> of life in 2016, it was originally crafted in circa 1,200 pieces (the same amount of calibers that were exclusively produced for the <strong>T.S.C.\u00a0<\/strong>and a <strong>British Navy<\/strong> deck watch) and <strong>IWC<\/strong> has now decided to launch <strong>two new limited editions<\/strong>. The first one will sport a watch with a <strong>55mm<\/strong>\u2013<strong>diameter<\/strong>\u2013<strong>case<\/strong>\u00a0while the second edition will feature a slightly smaller timepiece with a <strong>48mm-diameter-case, <\/strong>both sporting a manual-wind caliber.\u00a0<strong>IWC<\/strong> will produce just\u00a0<strong>100 pieces<\/strong> of the <strong>IWC Big Pilot's Heritage Watch 55<\/strong> available exclusively at some selected boutiques of the brand\u00a0and <strong>1000 pieces<\/strong> of the <strong>IWC Big Pilot's Heritage Watch 48<\/strong>. The <strong>IWC Big Pilot's Heritage Watch 48<\/strong> will be perhaps easier to find in stores but collectors will have to struggle quite a bit, in my humble opinion,\u00a0to be able to get their hands on a <strong>IWC Big Pilot's Heritage Watch 55<\/strong> and it is more than likely that its price will skyrocket in no time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IWC_Big_Pilots_Watch_Heritage_Watch_48_IW510401\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/IWC_Big_Pilots_Watch_Heritage_Watch_48_IW510401.jpg\" style=\"width:100%\" title=\"IWC_Big_Pilots_Watch_Heritage_Watch_48_IW510401\">The <strong>55mm-diameter-timepiece<\/strong> pays homage to the real military aviator's watches and it represents <strong>IWC<\/strong>'s response to those brands who, in the last few years, have \u201ctaken over\u201d the <strong>T.S.C.<\/strong>'s style by producing items with no tradition and debatable technical features. The case is made of <strong>titanium<\/strong>, the dial pays tribute to the one sported on the original watch including\u00a0the <strong>number 9<\/strong> that had disappeared from the <strong>Big Pilot's<\/strong> watches produced after the year 2002. The <strong>luminous triangle<\/strong> that is located at 12 o'clock has been placed, like on the original timepiece, below the 12-hour-counter without replacing it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IWC_Big_Pilots_Watch_Heritage_Watch_48_IW510301_back\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/IWC_Big_Pilots_Watch_Heritage_Watch_48_IW510301_back.jpg\" style=\"width:100%\" title=\"IWC_Big_Pilots_Watch_Heritage_Watch_48_IW510301_back\">The central seconds hand has\u00a0been moved to a small dial that is located at <strong>6 o'clock<\/strong> but the <strong>Stop-Seconds Function<\/strong> has been maintained so that the user can accurately synchronize its watch's time.\u00a0Among the existing functions of the <strong>98300 caliber<\/strong> is one that allows the user to protect the movement from overloading phenomena, thanks to the presence of a <strong>torque<\/strong> <strong>limiter<\/strong>. The caliber is also <strong>shockproof<\/strong> and it guarantees up to <strong>46 hours of power reserve<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">From an aesthetic point of view, we can say that the <strong>IWC Big Pilot's Heritage Watch 48<\/strong> sports the same architecture as the original timepiece; it features big <strong>propeller-like hands<\/strong> with blue edges and the small seconds counter at 6 o'clock but, beside being <strong>7mm<\/strong> smaller, it is equipped with a different caliber; the <strong>IWC 59215<\/strong> one that guarantees up to <strong>8 days of power reserve<\/strong> and whose indicator can be seen through a small opening located on the bottom of the case.
