First of all I didn\u2019t know the <strong>Contograf<\/strong> at all, because, in my head and until then, the name <strong>Eberhard<\/strong> had always been linked to either the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/en\/eberhard-tazio-nuvolari-vanderbilt-cup-photos-price\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Vanderbilt Cup<\/strong><\/span><\/a> or the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tazio_Nuvolari\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Tazio Nuvolari<\/strong><\/span><\/a> collection only. Secondly I found out that, if you\u2019re looking to buy a good two-register-chrono with a \u201cPanda\u201d dial, traditional push-piece buttons and a vintage look, an item that you won\u2019t get tired of not even in the next 20 years, you need to keep in mind that, within the <strong>Eberhard<\/strong> collection, there is a special chrono with an authentic pedigree certificate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"Eberhard_Contograf\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/Eberhard_Contograf.JPG\" alt=\"\">Leaving aside the <strong>Vanderbilt Cup<\/strong>, which is on my personal pre-summer buying list, the <strong>Eberhard Contograf<\/strong> is, in my opinion, the Holy Grail of the <strong>Eberhard<\/strong> brand. Unlike its competitors (except for the modern re-releases of the <strong>Heuer<\/strong> chronos), the Swiss manufacturer has faithfully revisited one of its original <strong>1960 Contograf<\/strong> models: a timepiece that would look trendy as it is even if it had been launched on the market in 2015.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"Eberhard_Contograf_1960\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/Eberhard_Contograf_1960.JPG\" alt=\"\">The original model boasts a round case with <strong>extended lugs<\/strong>, <strong>dauphine hands<\/strong>, <strong>water resistant push-piece buttons<\/strong>, an integrated bracelet and a quick-set-date-feature (from a technical point of view a far more advanced feature than that of the current edition.) The new <strong>Eberhard Contograf<\/strong>, on the other hand, is a beautiful perfectly-proportioned-timepiece: the ratio between the dimension of the counters, the width of the case (<strong>42mm<\/strong>) and the length of the lug nuts is basically perfect. The final <strong>vintage touch and look<\/strong>, which is usually missing on all the similar chronos available on the market, is given \u00a0by an extremely polished bezel made of <strong>ceramic<\/strong> that looks like as if it had been <strong>lacquered<\/strong>. Moreover, the <strong>Eberhard Contograf<\/strong>\u2018s bracelet features the \u201c<strong>Declic<\/strong>\u201d locking system, an original <strong>Eberhard<\/strong>-patented-idea.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"Eberhard_Contograf\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/Eberhard_Contograf_2.JPG\" alt=\"\">Here is the <strong>Eberhard Contograf Special Edition<\/strong> (the 2015 edition of the <strong>Contograf<\/strong>) featuring a \u201ccammo\u201d dial and a <strong>matte-green-bezel<\/strong> made of <strong>ceramic<\/strong>. In both cases the bezel is unidirectional, while the tachy scale is placed within the dial.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"Eberhard_Contograf_Special_Edition_3\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/Eberhard_Contograf_Special_Edition_3.JPG\" alt=\"\">All in all a nice looking watch and a successful collection, but I strongly suggest trying this timpiece on to fully appreciate it because, when worn on your wrist, it really is <strong>eye-catching<\/strong>. I would also recommend <strong>Eberhard<\/strong> to equip this worthy watch with an in-house-caliber as soon as possible (the current caliber is a modified <strong>ETA 7750<\/strong>.) Last but not least please keep in mind that some of the older <strong>Contografs<\/strong> were originally equipped with manual wind-column-wheel-movements.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"Eberhard_Contograf_Special_Edition_2\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/Eberhard_Contograf_Special_Edition_2.JPG\" alt=\"\">The standard <strong>Eberhard Contograf<\/strong> featuring the \u201cPanda\u201d dial comes on the market at a retail price \u00a0of around \u20ac<strong>3,000<\/strong>, while the <strong>Eberhard Contograf Special Edition<\/strong> is sold at a retail price of \u20ac<strong>4,300<\/strong> when it features the <strong>military strap<\/strong> (non-NATO) and it is sold at a retail price of \u20ac<strong>4,830<\/strong> when it features the <strong>stainless steel bracelet<\/strong>.
