He was the man behind the legendary <strong>Cobra<\/strong>, a mixture of a light English-made chassis and an American big-block <strong>Ford V8<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"Baume-et-Mercier-Capeland-Shelby-Cobra-_Carroll-Shelby-3\" src=\"\/media\/uploads\/Baume-et-Mercier-Capeland-Shelby-Cobra-_Carroll-Shelby-3.jpg\" alt=\"\">One of the first successful examples of a partnership between a chassis and an engine maker in car racing. <strong>Carroll<\/strong> passed away in 2012 but the two companies he created (plus a <strong>Foundation<\/strong>) are still up and running, and collaborate on a regular basis with <strong>Ford<\/strong> to create high performance <strong>Mustangs<\/strong>, the last being the <strong>Shelby GT350<\/strong> (while we wait for the <strong>GT500<\/strong> to be released), featuring the <strong>Cobra logo<\/strong> on its spindle grille.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"Ford_Mustang_GT350_Shelby\" src=\"\/media\/uploads\/Ford_Mustang_GT350_Shelby.jpg\" alt=\"\"><strong>2015<\/strong> marks two anniversaries: in <strong>1965<\/strong> the <strong>Shelby Cobra 427<\/strong> was launched, and in <strong>1830<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.baume-et-mercier.it\/home.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Baume &amp; Mercier<\/strong><\/span><\/a> was founded. Anniversaries, in car making as well as in watchmaking, are important and these two brands decided to celebrate them with a partnership and two new timepieces.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"Baume-et-Mercier-Capeland-Shelby-Cobra-Daytona_Hangar\" src=\"\/media\/uploads\/Baume-et-Mercier-Capeland-Shelby-Cobra-Daytona_Hangar.jpg\" alt=\"\"><strong>Baume &amp; Mercier<\/strong> has therefore made the <strong>Capeland Shelby Cobra Limited Edition<\/strong>, two special versions of its <strong>Capeland<\/strong> cronograph, one in <strong>stainless steel<\/strong>, the other in <strong>18K Gold<\/strong>. In both cases the watch\u2019s dial has exactly the same <strong>Guardsman Blue<\/strong> color used on <strong>Carroll<\/strong>\u2018s cars, dominated by the two unmistakable <strong>vertical stripes<\/strong> found on a <strong>Mustang Shelby GT350<\/strong>\u2018s hood.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"Baume_et_Mercier_Capeland_Shelby_Cobra_Stainless_Steel_Limited_Edition\" src=\"\/media\/uploads\/Baume_et_Mercier_Capeland_Shelby_Cobra_Stainless_Steel_Limited_Edition.jpg\" alt=\"\">The central hour and minutes\u2019 hands resemble the <strong>Cobra<\/strong>\u2018s steering wheel, the minute and chrono hour registers resemble the car\u2019s dashboard with the addition of red tipped hands, and the central chrono hand features a skeletonized <strong>Cobra<\/strong> logo. The <strong>44mm<\/strong> wide case is <strong>polished<\/strong> and <strong>satin-finished<\/strong>, and the alligator leather strap has a rubber inlay on the inside, to make it easy to use even in summer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"Baume_et_Mercier_Capeland_Shelby_Cobra_Stainless_Steel_Limited_Edition_2\" src=\"\/media\/uploads\/Baume_et_Mercier_Capeland_Shelby_Cobra_Stainless_Steel_Limited_Edition_2.jpg\" alt=\"\">The stainless steel <strong>Baume &amp; Mercier Capeland Shelby Cobra Limited Edition<\/strong> will be made in <strong>1965 pieces<\/strong> and will retail at <strong>3.900<\/strong>\u20ac, a competitive price if we consider the overall finishes of a <strong>Capeland<\/strong> and its customization over the standard version. <strong>Carroll Shelby<\/strong>\u2018s signature is printed on the see-through case back.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"Baume-et-Mercier-Capeland-Shelby-Cobra-Layout-Back\" src=\"\/media\/uploads\/Baume-et-Mercier-Capeland-Shelby-Cobra-Layout-Back.jpg\" alt=\"\">The <strong>Baume &amp; Mercier 18K Red Gold Capeland Shelby Cobra Limited Edition<\/strong> is even more prestigious, not just because it sports a 18K Gold case, but because it\u2019s a <strong>Flyback<\/strong> chrono.
