{"id":25911,"date":"2021-03-18T18:35:58","date_gmt":"2021-03-18T18:35:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/heuer-monaco-calibre-11-blue-dial-heritage-collection\/"},"modified":"2026-07-11T09:59:46","modified_gmt":"2026-07-11T07:59:46","slug":"baselworld-2015-2015-heuer-monaco-calibre-12-blue-dial-heritage-collection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/en\/baselworld-2015-2015-heuer-monaco-calibre-12-blue-dial-heritage-collection\/","title":{"rendered":"Heuer Monaco Calibre 11 Blue Dial Heritage Collection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>TAG Heuer<\/strong><\/span> has been one of the most discussed brands at this year\u2019s <strong>Baselworld<\/strong>. <strong>Jean Claude Biver<\/strong>\u2018s appointment as <strong>CEO<\/strong> seemed to result in a repositioning of <strong>TAG<\/strong> <strong>Heuer<\/strong> as an entry-level brand, based on a set of new partnerships, whose clear goal is to attract new and younger people to its customers portfolio.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This direction is followed by the launch of the new <strong>Carrera<\/strong> featuring the innovative <strong>caliber 01<\/strong>, an evolution of the <strong>1887<\/strong> in-house movement, priced below <strong>5,000 CHF<\/strong>, and an additional one to become soon the first tourbillon to retail for under <strong>14,000 CHF<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This is good news for any watch enthusiast, but this change of direction has confused the brand\u2019s fans (such as yours truly), who have seen this move as the first step in phasing out legendary timepieces such as, for instance, the <strong>Monaco<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"\/media\/uploads\/TAG_Heuer_Monaco_Calibre_12_Blue_Dial_Heritage_collection_2015_logo\" src=\"\/media\/uploads\/TAG_Heuer_Monaco_Calibre_12_Heritage_collection_2015_logo.JPG\" alt=\"\">False alarm! I believe that two souls, therefore two different product collections, will coexist in the renewed <strong>TAG Heuer<\/strong>: the first one <strong>younger<\/strong>, <strong>innovative<\/strong> and <strong>accessible<\/strong> (also economically), and a more <strong>mature<\/strong> one, aimed at <strong>connoisseurs<\/strong> and <strong>collectors<\/strong>, that will only bring the historical <strong>Heuer logo<\/strong> as a dowry, but that will recover the brand\u2019s <strong>history<\/strong> and <strong>iconic timepieces<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"TAG_Heuer_Monaco_Calibre_12_Blue_Dial_Heritage_collection_2015\" src=\"\/media\/uploads\/TAG_Heuer_Monaco_Calibre_12_Heritage_collection_2015.JPG\" alt=\"\">Although I\u2019m not totally convinced by the first option, the new management certainly solved an ambiguity relating to the second one: it doesn\u2019t make any sense to offer two <strong>Monacos<\/strong>, one with the <strong>TAG Heuer<\/strong> logo, the other still bearing the <strong>Heuer<\/strong> logo, as well as the winding crown on the left side of the case (as in the original <strong>1969 Monaco<\/strong>), both realized in countless variations, with the result of confusing the customer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"TAG_Heuer_Monaco_Calibre_12_Blue_Dial_Heritage_collection_2015_due\" src=\"\/media\/uploads\/TAG_Heuer_Monaco_Calibre_12_Heritage_collection_2015_due.JPG\" alt=\"\">This year\u2019s <strong>Monaco<\/strong> will just adopt the <strong>Heuer<\/strong> logo, and will have the same architecture of the original model in fact, to be precise, it is an exact reproduction of the <strong>2009 limited edition version<\/strong>, signed by <strong>Jack Heuer<\/strong> himself and made to celebrate the <strong>40<\/strong><sup>th<\/sup><strong> anniversary of the Monaco<\/strong>, which is today a real collector\u2019s piece.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you want to buy a <strong>Monaco<\/strong> this year, but are intrigued by this latest model, which I find irresistible, pictured here are the differences between the three latest versions from the last few years: the <strong>2015 Heuer Monaco Calibre 11 Blue Dial Heritage Collection<\/strong> (we don\u2019t even know the official name yet), the <strong>TAG Heuer Monaco Steve McQueen Boutique Edition Calibre 11 <\/strong> and the stock <strong>TAG Heuer Monaco Calibre 12 Racing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This photo compares instead the original <strong>Steve McQueen Monaco <\/strong>to the upcoming <strong>2015 Heuer Monaco Calibre 12 Blue Dial Heritage Collection<\/strong>, of which it faithfully recalls the dial, including the applied indexes, but with the exception of the chrono pushers\u2019 style.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" title=\"\/media\/uploads\/TAG_Heuer_Monaco_Calibre_12_Blue_Dial_Heritage_collection_vs_originale_Monaco_1969\" src=\"\/media\/uploads\/TAG_Heuer_Monaco_Calibre_12_Quadrante_Blu_Heritage_collection_vs_originale_Monaco_1969.JPG\" alt=\"\">Technical features remain essentially the same, such as the <strong>39mm<\/strong> case and the <strong>ETA<\/strong> (or <strong>Sellita<\/strong>) base movement, with the addition of a <strong>Dubois-Depraz<\/strong> chrono module; in my opinion these do not constitute reason enough to buy or not to buy a watch that, priced at <strong>4,950 Euro<\/strong>, one usually chooses for its <strong>style<\/strong>, <strong>history<\/strong> (hopefully in a very near future, also for a nicely finished manufactured movement) and, with this <strong>blue dial version<\/strong>, for its <strong>vintage<\/strong> touch.
