{"id":25826,"date":"2018-04-16T08:16:51","date_gmt":"2018-04-16T08:16:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/the-bremont-lightweight-e-type\/"},"modified":"2023-10-17T22:20:06","modified_gmt":"2023-10-17T20:20:06","slug":"bremont-lightweight-e-type","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/en\/bremont-lightweight-e-type\/","title":{"rendered":"Introducing the Bremont Lightweight E-Type watches"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We were somehow prophetic, only a week ago, when we wrote about the link that exists between cars and watches (right <a title=\"Cars and Watches\" href=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/en\/cars-and-watches\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/a>) and about <strong>Bremont<\/strong> and here is this brand that has astonished us all, including yours truly, by suddenly unveiling\u00a0 the<strong> Bremont Lightweight E-Type<\/strong>. The <strong>E-Type<\/strong> is an icon in <strong>JAGUAR<\/strong> history making and beyond, and represents a brand that has partnered already with <strong>Bremont<\/strong>\u00a0some time ago when the British based watchmaker has made two mechanical timepieces custom made for two prototypes that have celebrated the 75th anniversary of the British famed car maker.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/2014\/08\/JAGUAR_Lightweight-E-Type-collage-2.jpg\" rel=\"prettyPhoto\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/2014\/08\/JAGUAR_Lightweight-E-Type-collage-2.jpg\" alt=\"JAGUAR_Lightweight E-Type collage 2\" height=\"300\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If those were, in my opinion, celebrating the future of car and watch manufacturing, the <strong>Bremont<\/strong><strong>\u00a0Lightweight E-Type<\/strong> is honoring the history of a legendary car. In 1963 <strong>JAGUAR<\/strong> launched a project called <em>\u201cSpecial GT E-Type\u201d<\/em> whose aim was to build 18 superlight racing cars featuring an aluminum chassis.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/2014\/08\/JAGUAR_Lightweight-E-Type-ten.jpg\" rel=\"prettyPhoto\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/2014\/08\/JAGUAR_Lightweight-E-Type-ten.jpg\" alt=\"JAGUAR_Lightweight E-Type ten\" height=\"183\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Just 12 vehicles, out of 18, were then completed. Now <strong>JAGUAR<\/strong>, through its <strong>Heritage Division<\/strong>, has decided to revamp that project, get the old drafts out of the drawers and complete the production run by finishing the missing 6 cars, that are going to be built, moreover, while complying with the <a title=\"FIA\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fia.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>FIA<\/strong><\/a> regulations for classic car racing. <strong>Ian Callum<\/strong>, Director of Design at <strong>JAGUAR<\/strong> and <strong>Nick English<\/strong>, co-founder with his brother <strong>Giles<\/strong>, of <strong>Bremont<\/strong>, decided to create something truly unique that could celebrate this event and pair each of the 6 cars remaining.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By wrapping a <strong>Bremont<\/strong><strong>\u00a0Lightweight E-Type<\/strong> around your wrist you\u2019re about to wear a bit of a 1,25 Million \u20ac car, soon after you have secured it in your private garage. Its dial resembles the car\u2019s rev counter where the high rev red zone, the historical <strong>JAGUAR<\/strong> logo along with the frame reference number are printed. The case, 43mm wide, is in white gold and in the middle they set a ring made out of the same aluminum used to craft the car\u2019s chassis.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/2014\/08\/BREMONT-Jaguar-Lightweight-E-Type-Limited-Edition-2.jpg\" rel=\"prettyPhoto\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/2014\/08\/BREMONT-Jaguar-Lightweight-E-Type-Limited-Edition-2.jpg\" alt=\"BREMONT Jaguar Lightweight E-Type Limited Edition 2\" height=\"300\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Engraved on the case is\u00a0 the serial number of the pairing <strong>E-Type<\/strong>\u2018s engine, an inline 6 cylinder 3,8 liter with an aluminum block (\u201cSimplify, then add lightness\u201d was the driving motto at the time, in the words of <strong>Sir Colin Chapman<\/strong>, founder of <strong>Lotus Cars<\/strong>) producing <strong>340 BHP<\/strong>. A mix of advanced technical features that let this car weigh an astonishing <strong>114kg<\/strong> less than the stock car.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/2014\/08\/JAGUAR_Lightweight-E-Type-fourteen.jpg\" rel=\"prettyPhoto\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/media\/uploads\/2014\/08\/JAGUAR_Lightweight-E-Type-fourteen.jpg\" alt=\"JAGUAR_Lightweight E-Type fourteen\" height=\"183\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The case back is even more appealing than the dial\u2019s side as the rotor used on the in-house made <strong>BWC\/01<\/strong> caliber, that has debuted on the <strong>Wright Flyer<\/strong> (<a title=\"BREMONT Wright Flyer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.horbiter.com\/en\/the-bremont-wright-flyer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a> is our related post), is the steering wheel\u2019s hard copy, included the wood and, icing on the cake, the over sized winding crown is engraved with the pattern of the period-correct <strong>Dunlop<\/strong> racing tyres. The <strong>JAGUAR Lightweight E-Type<\/strong> will be officially unveiled at this summer <a title=\"Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance\" href=\"http:\/\/www.pebblebeachconcours.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Pebble Beach Concours d\u2019Elegance<\/strong><\/a>, along with the <strong>Bremont<\/strong><strong>\u00a0Lightweight E-Type<\/strong>.
