Over the past years, the connection between Omega<\/strong> and James Bond<\/strong> piloted an endless series of limited edition timepieces dedicated to the feats of the legendary British secret agent. In the past,\u00a0James Bond<\/strong>\u00a0usually wore an Omega Seamaster Diver<\/strong> on his wrist, a nicely sized timepiece, well suited to Pierce Brosnan<\/strong>, when he starred as James Bond<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"20020622Lon007_06.highres<\/a>In 2005<\/strong> Omega<\/strong> launched the Planet Ocean<\/strong> collection, which was inspired by the 1957 Seamaster 300<\/strong>, and produced it in two different case dimensions when Daniel Craig<\/strong> was selected to be the new 007<\/strong> series actor; a year later Omega<\/strong> celebrated the first movie of this renovated series, called Casino Royale<\/strong>, by launching an Omega<\/strong> Planet Ocean<\/strong> 5007<\/strong>-piece<\/strong> limited edition series <\/span>with a 45<\/strong>,5mm<\/strong> diameter:<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

\"2012_skyfall_009<\/a>The Omega Planet Ocean <\/strong>boasts some records: it is the first sporty model that adopts the calibre 2500<\/strong> with a co-axial escapement, and it represents the first Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean<\/strong> ever worn on James Bond<\/strong>\u2018s wrist. On top of that, with this special edition, it is a true collector\u2019s piece. At first, it is easy to confuse the Omega Planet Ocean Casino Royale<\/strong> with the standard production model, because<\/span> there\u2019s no difference in the dial making:<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

\"Omega<\/a>They both display the classical yet unique 45<\/strong>,5mm<\/strong> wide Omega Planet Ocean<\/strong> stainless steel case, with the helix like lugs and a thickness of 14<\/strong>,5mm<\/strong>, which is very appreciated today even though this model is out of production, as it is thinner than the newer generation\u2019s Omega Planet Ocean<\/strong> case. After you\u2019ve observed the dial, you suddenly realize the central seconds\u2019 hand has two distinctive attributes: the counterweight has the shape of the 007<\/strong> gun-like logo and it is orange like its tip.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Omega<\/a>Omega<\/strong> granted more personalization on the watch\u2019s case back, and it is quite different from the original one, as they replaced the Seamaster<\/strong> medallion with the official Casino Royale<\/strong> film logo along with the 007<\/strong> gun like brand logo. Why do I think this is definitely a collector\u2019s piece? Because what a watch enthusiast looks for in a limited edition timepiece is exclusivity and sobriety:<\/span><\/p>\n

And because of the strong indications that are coming from the pre-owned watches market: only 5007 pieces<\/strong> of the Omega Planet Ocean Casino Royale<\/strong> were manufactured, which are a lot, yet they are hard to find. And if you\u2019ve found one, the retail price is higher than what you paid new back in 2006<\/strong> (almost 2<\/strong>,800<\/strong>\u20ac if I\u2019m not mistaken)! It might be interesting to know that the first one in this series was sold by Antiquorum at 18<\/strong>,800<\/strong> CHF<\/strong> back in 2007<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n
