Omega is renowned for realasing each year a set of cool limited edition watches, that shortly tend to become a cult. We are aware of all the limited edition Speedmasters<\/strong> (e.g.: Gemini, Alaska\u2026) reminding us various space missions where the Speedy has played the role of a guest star. But the brand has in recent years revitalised its roots as a divers\u2019 watch producer as well, first launching the Planet Ocean<\/strong> series, then revamping the Seamaster 300m<\/strong> model, with the updated chrono version debuting late april at Baselworld 2013.<\/p>\n

The 26 of June, in the amazing bay of San Francisco where the America\u2019s Cup 2013<\/strong> challenge will take place, Omega<\/strong> has unveiled a new limited edition Seamaster Chrono<\/strong>, named after the famous partner Emirates Team New Zealand<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"ETNZLaunch_2_red_firma\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We\u2019re talking about the the 2013 chrono version, where the 30 minutes counter, located at 3 o\u2019clock, has been upgraded to a regatta<\/strong> counter.:<\/p>\n

\"SE_212.32.44.50.01.001_close-up_red_firma\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Comparing this lay-out to the stock one, an additional red ring counter has been attached on the matt black dial, marked with the thicks of the last 5 minutes of engagement preceding the start of the race. As matt black is the ceramic insert on the rotatable bezel. Its steel case is 44mm wide and has the back embossed with the ETNZ<\/strong> logo, the series number (2013 peices will be made) and other important features such as the Si14<\/strong> silicon balance spring and the column-wheel<\/strong> chrono device. Last, not least this timepeice is certified as a Chronometer.<\/p>\n

\"SE_212.32.44.50.01.001_caseback_red_firma\"<\/a><\/p>\n

These characteristics, that include the co-axial escapement, let Omega<\/strong> provide a full four year warranty<\/strong> on this watch. At 10, as with all the Omega divers watches, is located the helium escape valve. An Omega<\/strong> logo branded caoutchouc bracelet with a folding clasp completes the package with an additional Seamaster<\/strong> steel bracelet being provided.<\/p>\n

Summarising: a very cool watch with an attractive design and nice tech features, suit for sailing professionals or not who love the America\u2019s Cup event and dream of being Dean Barker, the ETNZ<\/strong>\u2018s skipper, for a day.<\/p>\n
