And this one makes three! The IWC Pilot’s Watches Saint-Exupéry Edition The Last Flight is, again, another addition to the Chrono Spitfire collection (with no date); I thought the series had ended with the “Ju-Air” limited edition (here is our news release) but I've just found out that, beginning of July, IWC has released three limited edition timepieces named after that tragic last flight done by legendary aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry in 1944.
The IWC Pilot’s Watches Saint-Exupéry Edition The Last Flight is the very first IWC to adopt brown ceramic on its watches, made possible by employing silicon nitride as IWC claims. These three versions, all featuring a 46mm wide case, are powered by caliber 89361 with column wheel operated chronograph and fly back function: ceramics and titanium (1700 pieces), ceramic and rose gold (170), ceramics and platinum (17). The brown ceramic and the calfskin leather strap with white stitching give these watches a 40s Pilot's watch allure. No information yet about retail pricing for them at all. I'm rather wondering how it would feel and look a Big Pilot watch with such a ceramic case, while I sincerely hope IWC is taking my wish seriously.(Photo credit: Google; courtesy of IWC)
